Despite boasting a truly unique cottage style architecture with arching beams and walls of red cedar wood, The Red Cedar’s location and heritage is what truly upgrades your stay from fantastic to magical. The house sits beside a 30m long remnant of the historical stone walls erected by Australia’s first Irish convicts over 200 years ago. Residing on a peaceful 3 acre plot of land, The Red Cedar is also accompanied by the region’s largest fig tree and oldest pine tree, which grow humbly in its front yard. Two gentle-mannered neighbouring horses frequent the front paddock just outside the downstairs living area. Give them a pat and a carrot each and they would be sure to love you more. Head around the side of the house to find a small backyard orchard that includes an orange tree, sweet lime tree, avocado tree and a wild bush lemon tree. Feel free to enjoy the fruit it bears during your visit. Of course, don’t forget to also watch the unobstructed sunrise in the morning from the front balcony, and stargaze through the night under Kiama’s pristine dark skies
