Tucked away, down a long driveway lined by apple trees and resting in a natural amphitheatre, Luxstowe House is rich in history, character and stories.
The cottage began its life as the cooking school building at Frensham girls’ school, in nearby Mittagong. Beautiful antiques and original artworks have long replaced the mixing bowls, aprons and utensils.
Since 1993, the cottage has rested in the beautiful grounds of Treekeepers Nursery nestled between Catavento Sculpture Studio and picturesque paddocks, dotted with hay bales, alpacas, geese and cows.
The property’s dreamy setting in a vast garden—inhabited by established trees, shrubs and sculptures, evocative of England or France—will transport you away from routine and commitments.
Luxstowe House is five-minutes drive from Bowral and Moss
Vale, where you’ll find a variety of places to eat and shop. If you enjoy walking or cycling, an entrance to the Bong Bong Track, which follows the Wingecarribee River, is close by. Not far from several townships, waterfalls, bushwalks, golf courses and wineries, there are plenty of things to do and places to visit. You’ll find more details in the folder on the kitchen bench.
The property’s rural setting is perfect for relaxing, reading and artistic pursuits. It appeals to solo travellers, couples and families of all ages and walks of life. (Please note that there are ponds on the property and dams in the adjoining paddocks, so be vigilant with young children.)
Antiques, sculptures and books give Luxstowe House a timeless and rich quality. Its high ceilings create a sense of generosity, enhanced by the large windows that frame the serene landscape.
Guests can dine inside on the cedar table, on the small table in the well-equipped kitchen, or on the outdoor table under the vines and trees. On a beautiful day, a picnic in the garden or a barbecue on the deck is a lovely way to enjoy Luxstowe’s tranquil and atmospheric setting.
You are guaranteed to sleep well at Luxstowe House. Guests enter the spacious main bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed, through the second bedroom, with its two singles. All beds have electric blankets, down duvets and pillows, and are dressed in pure cotton sheets.
The bedrooms, bathroom and living room have wall-mounted heaters, and a large gas heater in the living/kitchen area provides extra warmth.
The cottage accommodates a maximum of four guests.
Neither pets nor smoking are permitted.
If you require a cot with linen and/or highchair, please let us know when you book. Both can be provided for $15 each. If you need a babysitter, we know several nannies who would be happy to assist.
While the cottage doesn’t have Wi-Fi, it does have a television, DVD and CD player, radio and iPod docking station, along with lovely books and magazines to pore over.
