Description

"MARTHAGUY" is a tranquil, luxury, unique property. Originally part of the Hopewood Estate, this is one of the finest 5 acre properties you will find this close to the centre of Bowral. Stunningly renovated in 2016, attention has been paid to your comfort and needs. Private and peaceful, the house is light, open and commands a stunning view to Mt Gibraltar.

Elevated and protected, Marthaguy is nestled among the tree tops and protected from harsh southerly winds. The morning sun reaches every room, which is a blessing in the winter months. Bird life is abundant and on occasion you might see a couple of kangaroos or even a wombat.

LOCATION:

The Southern Highlands is a unique area. To most visitors it is as if they are entering "another world", with attractions such as the Bradman Museum, numerous wineries, magnificent gardens, antiques, heritage and wondrous natural attractions that are ripe for exploration. The nearest one is Gibbergunyah Reserve, only 1.7 kms from Marthaguy. It offers a choice of bushwalking trails of varying distances and some beautiful lookouts.

Marthaguy is located 2.3 kms from main street Bowral or the train station. The delightful township of Bowral, the heart of the Southern Highlands, is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Sydney; 1 hour from the coast; and 1.75 hours drive from Canberra.

The property is less than 2 kms from several major wedding venues including Peppers Craigieburn, Gibraltar Hotel, Centennial Vineyards Winery and Hopewood House. Bendooley Estate is only 6.5 kms away 8 minutes by car.

For the golf enthusiast you have the choice of Craigieburn Golf Club, the Country Club Golf Course both less than 2 kms away or Bowral Golf Club 3.6 kms.

ACCOMMODATION:

BEDROOMS: The main residence accommodates up to 7 people.

Bedroom One has a queen sized bed, a beautiful view and a brand new ensuite bathroom with over-sized shower and underfloor heating.

Bedroom Two is even larger, has a queen size bed and views.

Bedroom Three has 2 large single beds and views.

A single fold out bed is available on request for an extra person.

All linen, towels and bedding are of the highest quality and are supplied at no extra cost.

BATHROOMS:

Luxury master bathroom with full sized stone bath, over-sized shower and underfloor heating.

The ensuite bathroom to Bedroom One has an over-sized shower and underfloor heating.

LIVING AREAS:

The main residence features a large, open-plan living-dining–kitchen area which opens onto a spacious deck – designed for entertaining.

The front deck leads down to a large, level lawn terrace. The view from the house, the deck and the front lawn is lovely.

There is also a rear deck with a family sized BBQ and easy access to the carport.

The informal lounge area has an open fire which can also be enjoyed from the dining table right through to the kitchen. All firewood is provided and a supply of cut fire wood is stored in a wood box on the rear deck.

There is underfloor, ducted gas heating throughout the house as well as an air-conditioning unit in the main living area for the occasional hot summer’s day.

KITCHEN:

Marthaguy has a stunning new kitchen with everything you may need and more. It is a fully equipped chef’s kitchen with quality appliances. The view from the sink is spectacular, especially when the doors onto the deck are opened and folded to one side, creating a lovely indoor/outdoor space.

THE STUDIO

The Studio is a private residence, occupied by the owner at times. It is attached to the house but with it’s own separate entry. Your privacy and space is completely respected. You won’t even notice the owner’s presence, unless you need assistance or information.

Today the range of activities on offer for visitors to the Southern Highlands includes:

• markets

• national parks

• action and adventure pursuits.

Almost all these are no more than a 5 minute drive from the property.

CHECK IN: 2.00 pm

CHECK OUT: 10.00 am I will try and accommodate earlier or later check in’s and check out’s when possible.

NO SMOKING inside. Permitted outside upon request with consideration to bushfire hazards. Butts must be disposed of thoughtfully.

PETS: With consideration to guest comfort and with regard to the lack of adequate fencing, pets are not allowed. However, alternative accommodation for your pets is available locally. Please check with the owner for recommended pet boarding/pet sitting options.

EXTRA GUESTS visiting the property must be arranged prior to arrival.

NO LARGE PARTIES. Smaller dinner or lunch parties may be agreed by by prior arrangement and only with Management’s blessing. In such cases, a higher bond might apply. If any damage is incurred whatsoever, the cost of repair will be taken from the bond.

GENERAL CARE: Respectful care of the house and grounds would be appreciated. Please leave the house as neat and tidy as you found it, placing all garbage/recycling in the bins provided in the carport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Property My partner and I spent our first night (and weekend) as fiancé and fiancée at Marthaguy Tranquil Retreat and it was absolutely wonderful. Mandy was extremely accomodating, greeting us with a bottle of champagne and giving us a thorough tour of the house. She also lent us some great tips on where the locals eat and they didn't disappoint! The house is gorgeous -- it's like something out of Vogue Living -- but the outlook is even more stunning; despite being in close proximity to other houses and minutes from the centre of Bowral, Berrima and Mittagong, it felt totally secluded. We can't recommend this stay enough and we hope to come back soon! Thank you for a great weekend Mandy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Fantastic I stayed here with a few friends earlier in October and had an amazing time. The house was very easy to find thanks to Mandy's instructions and it is located conveniently (about a 6min drive) to Bowral's town centre. The house was beautifully furnished and felt very warm and welcoming. The bathrooms in particular were very modern. We were thankful that the house was well heated and the beds were perfect. The kitchen is also a great space and is very well stocked which was very appreciated and everything including the outdoor barbecue was easy to use. Mandy was very lovely and helpful despite not being in town she made sure that we were able to get into the house okay and that all our needs were met. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect escape from the city... We loved our stay. At Marthaguy, you truly will enjoy luxury and tranquility. Close enough to Bowral town to pop in easily to enjoy a meal, a wander in the shopping village or just to pick up necessities. Far enough away to feel like you could be in the middle of nowhere, on a country escape. Mandy's wonderful decorative style gives this home it's sense of luxury. As do the quality sheets and towels and the well stocked kitchen. Magazines & books to enjoy.. wood for the fire. Mandy is a fabulous host and made us feel very welcome. We had been kindly left with sourdough bread, milk, butter, jams etc. Also a very thoughtful gesture of cupcakes for our boys. We will return!

Mandy was great to deal with and even stocked the house with essentials like a great loaf of sourdough bread, milk, butter and more. The view from pretty much every room is beautiful and the large kitchen was a great place to cook and chat. The lounge room fireplace was nice and cosy and with central heating, throughout the house, we were nice and warm. The bathroom and ensuite and very nicely done including a big rain shower shower head and an egg shaped bath. It's also pretty close to town (totally walkable).
