Escape for a unique farmstay in Carriage 1238 on Redleaf Farm.
Unplug. Unwind. Breathe fresh country air.
Situated on a small working farm, Carriage 1238 is an historic NSW Railways carriage built in 1920. It accommodates 2 people in a king bed, with shower, toilet, kitchen and dining and a sitting room and small changeroom. A deck provides a picturesque view across the paddocks. You may see sheep, cows or horses wander past, and hear the rooster first thing in the morning, and you can collect fresh free range eggs for breakfast
Redleaf Farm boasts a lovely swimming hole and also adjoins Meryla State Forest. Fire trails and walking tracks can take you to Fitzroy Falls and even Kangaroo Valley - perfect for the keen mountain biker, bush walker or birdwatcher. There is an abundance of native wildlife.
The Carriage retains many original features and interiors where possible - and as such has minimal insulation, so bring warm clothes. There is a panel heater in the living room and a small fan heater in the bedroom if necessary.
A small fridge, oven and gas stove provide ample cooking facilities - and there are many fine restaurants in the Highlands within easy driving distance.
Due to our location, telephone reception is limited as is wifi and internet access. Games are provided and meaningful conversation encouraged.
Guided walks to our waterfalls, bush tours, paddock-to-plate dinners, camp oven dinners are all optional extras dependent on owner availability.
Space is limited so this may not suit very large guests or those with limited mobility.
