A regular ferry service takes you to Dangar, so close to Sydney, yet so far
This comfortable three bedroom holiday cottage is right on the water, on the sunny north-side of the island. Nearby is a handy grocery store and cafe for basic neccessities search "dangarislandshop" on the web. And right at your doorstep is the beautiful Hawkesbury River in all its glory
You can go walking, fishing, canoeing, paddling, or just watch the tide come in and go out again. There is a small beach and at high tide it is a perfect spot for a refreshing paddle. Its the perfect place to contemplate nature.
On the island there is a public park and a licenced Bowling Club. Meals and drinks are generally available at the Club on weekends. There is an Island Shop and Cafe, which sells basic groceries. Bradleys Beach is a public beach accessible on the south side of the island, and there is a natural bush reserve with great views on the top of the island accessible from Riverview Avenue.

Dangar Island is water access only. Public access is by a regular passenger ferry service departing from the Public Wharf at the end of Dangar Road, Brooklyn. The village of Brooklyn is one hour's drive north of Sydney. Take the Hawkesbury River turn off the F3, and follow signs to Brooklyn where you can find street parking. Alternatively alight from the Gosford train at "Hawkesbury River" train station, where it is only a short walk to the ferry wharf.
Ferries leave almost hourly from Brooklyn to Dangar Island during the day. The trip is a relaxing 15 - 20 minutes, and tickets can be purchased on the ferry itself. The ferry time table is available on the web; search "dangar island ferry"; no booking is required.
There are three bedrooms in Bill's Cottage, two with queen sized beds and one with four bunk beds for kids. Not only do we include bed linen, but we also arrange for the house to be opened and freshened for your arrival.
Bill's Cottage is a very short walk from the Dangar Island Public Wharf, and if you wish our concierge will escort you. We prefer you stay a minimum of 3 nights. Sorry no pets. There is a DVD player and we have Foxtel.
You can also bring your own boat to the Island, but will have to make your own mooring arrangements. There is a tidal public beach a hundred meters to the west that may be used.
