Description

The Rocks Terrace retreat is one of five terraces in a row that survived the Bubonic Black Plague. In the early 1900's many buildings in the Dawes Point area were burnt to the ground, to eradicate the spread of the plague.

Situated on a quiet street, this terrace has been sympathetically restored and renovated. The owners have given great care to detail, with much time, love and expense going into this house. Rescuing this ugly duckling back to it's former glory, ready for the next one hundred years.

On entering the house you cannot help but notice the staircase. The polished Kauri pine stairs, one of the many original features. A few of the steps have linoleum from many years past, reminding us of earlier times.

The front downstairs bedroom window looks out onto a tree lined street. This roomhas a double bed, two bedside tables, two bedside lamps anda period wardrobe.

Continuing down the halllway takes you into the lounge room. The lounge is inviting, possessing a French country elegance, there is a three seater lounge and two lounge chairs, a Television, coffee table and table lamp. The woollen rug adds more warmth.

Walking through the lounge to the kitchen you pass the internal laundry that has a front loader washing machine and clothes dryer.

The kitchen has abundant natural light, looking up you notice the polished copper pipe that travels the length of the kitchen ceiling. There is a smeg stove that sits proudly in the chimney space. The Belfast sink is another quality addition. The kitchen is well equipped for any feast or snack. Having a microwave and coffee machine.

Next to the kitchen is the dining nook, this has a dining table, bench seating with cushions and chairs. The French doors open onto the paved pathway that takes you to the rear of the property where you find an outdoor dining table and chairs. There is a BBQ and outside loo.

Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and the bathroom. Once at the top of the stairs, turning right is the bathroom. It has a shallow bath with a shower rose, there is a glasspartition, a ceramic basin with a mirror and shelf. There is also a toilet.

The king single room is opposite the stair landing. You are greeted by a dresser table a stool and a mirror that sits above. It has a king single bed, a bedside table, a bedside lamp. There are shelves with hanging space.

Still on the top floor walking towards the front of the house you will find the master bedroom. This room consists of a queen bed, two bedside tables, two bedside lamps. A period wardrobe and a comfortable liberty print lounge chair.

The French doors open onto the front balcony, inviting you to sit in a wicker chair, imagine yourself reading a book while sipping a beverage.

All beds have superior King Koil mattresses with quality Sheridan linen. Luggage racks to rest your bags are in all bedrooms.

There is free wifi, the modem located in the lounge room.

The house is positioned within a 5 minute walk to the heart of the Rocks. To Circular Quay another couple of minutes, where public transport is plentiful. Train, ferry and buses.

There are historic pubs within easy reach, the Hero of Waterloo only a hop, skip and jump away. Many eateries & cafes are nearby.

This is an ideal location to be based, being so close to many attractions and you don't need a car. If you want to hire a car there is a 'go get' car space out the front, no parking fees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stay, Lovely Home We stayed for 6 days, with my wife and son, and found the property clean and inviting, all you could need really, comfy beds and lounge furniture, easy access, nice usable kitchen, bathroom is nice to shower in but hand basin i could not get in to shave at, but used the outside tiolet/handbasin which actually added a nice touch and ambiance, and is also very handy, nice sitting outdoor area out the back too, the only downside was a lot of noise from people walking past on Friday night to restaurants and such, but this also has a positive because the property is easy walking distant to markets and very nice eats, we found the Munich German restaurant although a bit expensive was more than delicious, so this actually compensated for an all round Great experience, the owner/manager is also very nice to correspond and deal with. If your looking for the authentic Australain Sydney experience this is the place for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Accommodation We had a great stay here, the location is perfect and the house has everything you need. So much better than a hotel!! Tim Tam's on arrival were such a nice touch. Our only problem was very noisy neighbours at 4am as the noise comes through the wall but that's not the fault of this owner.
