Riverfront Cabin

This cosy cabin is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac accessible by road surrounded by mountains and located on the river bank, 5 mins from the 24/7 car ferry you can see the ferry lights from the deck. Nestled in the picturesque MacDonald Valley minutes from Wisemans Ferry the river cabin is the ideal spot for a quiet winter getaway or a recreational summer holiday with your own private boat ramp to the MacDonald river and with the adjoining Hawkesbury River nearby. Alternatively, you may want to leave your boat anchored at the front of the River Cabin. Note that we have no jetty or pontoon.

Waterskiers or cruisers will find this spot the perfect place to launch from with ease at mid and high tide. At the end of the day, retire to the large covered waterfront deck for a BBQ with a glass of wine or a cold beer and listen to the birds or the splashing of the fish in the river. You could try your luck at fishing. There are a few flatheads in the river waiting to be your dinner. Just throw a line in from your own backyard.

The fully fenced-in front lawn faces the beautiful mountains and a large paddock where you can see kangaroos arrive for their morning and evening meals.

This cabin sleeps 5. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and 1 with a bunkbed which has a double at the bottom and a single at the top. The chaise in the lounge room could also be utilised for an extra child. A new bathroom and a full size modern kitchen.

Bushwalking such as the Great North Road - a convict built piece of Australia's history, wilderness walks, canoeing & kayaking, cruising the river, family friendly, fishing from the waterfront, Golf Course, Lawn Bowls, great views, absolute water front, horse riding, rock-climbing & abseiling. If you are more the Adventurous types you may like to travel further on and take a challenging one-hour dirt track drive to the Hunter Valley wine region. There is also a nice swimming beach in Wisemans Ferry Park just across on the ferry.

AMENITIES: In Wisemans Ferry you will find the essentials you need. There is a small supermarket similar to a small IGA as well as a service station and a pharmacy. For your liquid sustenance you can always pick up a case of beer or a bottle of wine at the Bowling Club or the pub. The Wisemans Ferry Inn has great steaks, etc. You can also eat at The Riverside Restaurant, the Bowling Club or The Retreat Restaurant Al-Carte Menu. If you venture 17km towards St Albans you'll find great dining such as the Fickle Wombat, Wellum Lake Restaurant, and the historic Settler's Arms Pub.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We had a great time We spent 4 day at this lovely place, it was perfect for skiing, fishing, swimming and relaxing. The cabin was tidy but we barley spent any time inside, from the time we work up to the time we went to sleep we were on the back deck or in the water. We also did all our cooking on the BBQ and took enough of everything which meant we didn’t have to leave the property for anything. Having a private boat ramp was a real treat however it was almost impossible to bring a boat in or out on low tide, would have been even better if the property had its own jetty but we made do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great location, fish from the backyard. The location was great, the kids fished from the backyard, the sun hitting the water in the afternoon was beautiful. The neighborhood is quiet. The back veranda was really nice although a little cluttered and worn. Later checkout is great too. The cabin was average, there is no dishwasher, no washing machine, dryer, no tea towels or hand towels or bath mats provided. Most things in the kitchen were sticky to the touch, one fry pan should have been thrown away, cobwebs in the bathroom and dust behind the bed side tables(trying to plug in charger), there is no wardrobe in the main bedroom (3 coat hangers on hooks) and nowhere to put our bag as the room was too small to leave it on the floor. An extra TV in the main bedroom would have been handy as one kid slept in the lounge room leaving nothing for the adults to do. TV antenna would also be handy instead of only being able to watch DVD's. All around a pleasant stay but lacking in comforts, cleanliness and size for future consideration for 5 people.
