Description

Riverfront Cabin

This cosy cabin is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac (accessible by road) surrounded by mountains and located on the river bank, 5 mins from the 24/7 car ferry (you can see the ferry lights from the deck). Nestled in the picturesque MacDonald Valley minutes from Wisemans Ferry the river cabin is the ideal spot for a quiet winter getaway or a recreational summer holiday with your own private boat ramp to the MacDonald river and with the adjoining Hawkesbury River nearby. Alternatively, you may want to leave your boat anchored at the front of the River Cabin.

Waterskiers or cruisers will find this spot the perfect place to launch from with ease at mid and high tide. At the end of the day, retire to the large waterfront deck for a BBQ with a glass of wine or a cold beer and listen to the birds or the splashing of the fish in the river. You could try your luck at fishing. There are a few flatheads in the river waiting to be your dinner. Just throw a line in from your own backyard.

The fully fenced-in front lawn faces the beautiful mountains and a large paddock where you can see kangaroos arrive for their morning and evening meals.

This cabin sleeps 5. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and 1 with a bunkbed which has a double at the bottom and a single at the top. The chaise in the lounge room could also be utilised for an extra child. A new bathroom and a full size modern kitchen.

Location

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the tranquility I was looking for I think that whether or not you enjoy your stay here will depend on what you're looking for. If you have a boat and want access to the river - great, but for me, it didn't fit the bill. I was hoping for a peaceful river-side location and this was not it. There were speedboats and jet-skis and water skiers constantly running up and down the river and they were very noisy. Sound carries a long way in the river valley and so we also heard quite a lot of noise from neighbours. To be fair, we went over the Easter long weekend and so it was probably busier and noisier than normal, but I suspect there would be boats on any Summer weekend. The cabin was fairly basic with a couple of nice touches and I was prepared with all my own linen, toiletries and dish-cleaning stuff, but I found that it wasn't as clean as most places would be. I'm one of those people that notice that sort of thing and although it was superficially clean enough, there was old dirt, dust and grime in lots of corners. The cushions on the outdoor chairs were covered in mildew, but what really put me off was the state of one of the pillows on the bed. It had a new pillow-slip, but what was underneath was yellow and nasty. If the guests have to make up the beds themselves and are going to see pillows and mattress covers, I'm afraid they need to be in better condition. To summarise, our stay was OK, but not really what we'd hoped for and we won't be going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect Clean and comfortable but could do with a little bit extra. We chose this property so we could take our boat and ski, tube etc. The boat ramp is fine but the property could really use a jetti! There was nowhere to moor the boat when we stopped for a break/lunch etc so we had to get it on the trailer every time. This was incredibly frustrating. The cabin comes with basic necessities but that is it. One roll of toilet paper, a kitchen sponge that had seen better days, limited dishwashing liquid etc. My advice is to take extra's. We stayed there with 4 adults and a child and we were very comfortable. The verandah is perhaps the best feature of the place, stunning views! We would definitely go back in a heartbeat if the owner put in a pontoon/jetty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great family holiday accomodation Our family of 5 stayed here for a week. It was great. We could kayak, ski and fish without leaving the property. Shops are close by and the history of the area is amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stay! loved it, great place to base out of and explore the surroundings with my young lads. Top neighbours too, very friendly yet secluded spot. this is also a top position to set up and watch the night sky. cozy and easy to manage I will be coming back to this place for sure. owners are only happy to make it the stay comfortable. the only wrinkle and it has nothing to do with the property is that the town shuts down from 19:30 onwards for dinners and things but that adds to the charm.
