History and internal layout
Hope House gets it's name from the fact that the house was an old maternity hospital dating back to 1890, and was picked up and moved on a truck from the nearby suburb of St Johns Wood to it's present location. It is also located on a road which is a sacred Aboriginal path to Mount Cootha - called the place of the Honeybee Dreaming. So lots of history.
Hope House accommodation is as follows:
1 Queen bed in the main bedroom plus trundle bed if necessary
2 Queen bed in bedroom 2
3 2 x Single beds in bedroom 3
4 Queen bed plus single bed in bedroom 4
5 Port-a-cot available free of charge for those with a little one on request
All four bedrooms plus the bathroom radiate out from a large panhandle at the end of the corridor, so all bedrooms have equal access to the bathroom.
Hope House is one of two side-by-side semi-detached houses. New Life Cottage is the other and they share a common internal wall.
