Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be warned.. you'll never want to leave! It gives me great pleasure to comment on this property at which our group stayed for four nights. I hope this review enlightens potential travellers. You really can't go past this one! On first arrival we almost put our necks out gazing upon the sheer size of the house. It is a beautifully restored gem on a large, landscaped property with alot of its original character preserved. We were impressed upon first sight and had an inkling there was more in store once we got inside - we weren't disappointed. Upon entry, the size, again, is overwhelming. The house was clean, well-furnished and... spacious. If you haven't cottoned on yet.. the house is HUGE! It proved a difficult task to select our bedrooms because they were all so inviting but, certainly, all rooms are clean, comfortable and of good size. The upstairs and downstairs living areas are more than ample allowing for us to have our own "corner" when wanting time out alone. Everything is provided here so you'll really only need to stock the pantry and fridge/freezer. Leave your cares at the door! At the rear there is a large deck which was the setting for our indulgent breakfasts after a leisurely dip. The pool (saltwater? - well, that's what it tasted like.. lol) was clean and well-maintained. It is like a large rockpool edged with lovely greenery which made for a relaxing, tropical feel even though we could see the city skyline across the river from there! We visited Brisbane during a 36° plus heatwave so we made use of it at night as well after a long days shopping. The pool was definitely a highlight of our stay. The house is ideally situated such so that both the domestic and international airport terminals are 15-20 minutes drive, the city is 10-15 minutes drive and it's only about 5 minutes from the motorways (it took us just under an hour to get to the Gold Coast). We attended a sporting event at Suncorp where the taxi fare back to the house was less than $20. The house is off a busy road but it was only peak times where this was an issue. If we headed into town we opted to leave the rental behind and caught the bus. This seemed easier as both incoming and outgoing bus stops are literally less than 30 paces away from the front door. We found a Coles supermarket (about 5 minutes driving eastward on Wynnum Rd) in a neighboring suburb of Morningside. The road there has numerous cafes/eateries dotted along the way. You'd be spoilt for choice if you wanted a meal in a hurry. In closing, I can say without reserve that I would happily stay there again. The house has been a backdrop for lasting memories of our stay in Brisbane. My friends have now returned to NZ and are still remarking on the house and the time we spent there. It's amazing how it's so close to the sprawl of the city and just off the main road and yet the surroundings are so tranquil. The only thing that reminded me we were in suburbia was the view across the river! If you want to stay in a house that offers the peace and quiet of a secluded island within a stone's throw of the bright lights and big city, then look no further than this place. You'll wish you could stay forever. To the owners/manager: Thank you for having us as guests in your home! It was a great privilege and I hope I'm so lucky to stay at one of your properties again. xx
