Getting here

Bundaberg is a 4.5 hr drive or 50 min flight from Brisbane. Moore Park Beach is 18kms north of Bundaberg CBD. The 20 min drive is through some of the best fruit and vegetable growing areas, especially sweet potatoes, macadamia nuts and of course, sugar cane. During cane season, you may be lucky enough to see a cane fire, which is done just prior to cutting, and is a spectacular sight. Be careful to watch for cane trains and trucks hauling cane also. The Bundaberg area grows approx. 80 of Australia's sweet potatoes and is the largest macadamia nut producing area also. Other produce grown includes fresh herbs avocadoes, mushrooms, flowers and roses with many of these products available at roadside stalls.

Once you have settled in, take a short 350m stroll to the Beach, 17 kms of clean, sandy beach. This is also the start of a 2km walking/cycling path taking you past the Surf Lifesaving Club, Caravan Park, numerous shaded picnic tables and BBQs. If you are feeling active, we can arrange push bike hire so you can explore the many kms of pathways around the Moore Park Beach area. Pack a lunch and ride to one of the beachside public BBQ’s. Four W/D vehicles can also access the beach here, but can only travel south. Another beach access is located further north.

From Nov. to March turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and then the hatchlings return to the ocean. An early morning walk often reveals tracks made by the turtles when coming ashore to lay. If not you will probably enjoy watching a glorious sunrise or perhaps see dolphins slicing through the waves.
