Guests report they find difficult to leave the comfort and charm of this century-old home, which has been converted into a relaxing living space with modern conveniences. Guests like to lounge on the verandah, float in the pool and prepare meals in the well appointed kitchen.
There are three bedrooms, all with queen beds, fans and air conditioning. The main bedroom has its own en suite bathroom. The second bathroom has a shower/bath. The kitchen and living area is combined in a large open space with french doors opening onto a verandah with outdoor seating and dining area.
The pool is surrounded by rainforest trees and gardens with tropical fruit trees and spices. Undercover parking is available.
The home is a 14-minute taxi ride from the Cairns Airport and 15 minutes from the centre of Cairns. Local buses stop just two minutes' walk away on Kamerunga Road, next to the Freshwater railway station which is a pick-up point for the Skyrail cablecar and the historic train to the rainforest village of Kuranda.
Freshwater is an A-list suburb that will give you an insight to the "true Cairns" - relax and enjoy the local atmosphere, go for a swim in Freshwater Creek three minutes' walk and follow the heritage trails around the neighbourhood. There are tennis courts in the adjacent street and a great plant nursery. The Freshwater railway station cafe, Le Crouton French patisserie, Indian, Thai and Chinese take-away, fish and chip shop and butcher are less than five minutes' walk from the front door. For a more substantial meal, take a ten-minute 1km stroll to the local pub, the iconic Red Beret Hotel in Redlynch.
