The trip from Cairns is an exceptionally scenic 2 hours. The road travels through cane fields, with dramatic mountain back-drops heavy with clouds and waterfalls. It then turns coastal and literally hugs the coastline with spectacular vistas of the Pacific Ocean.
Once you cross the vehicular ferry, you are in the rainforest. The road winds through a thick canopy of tree-ferns, palms and the majestic king fern - the largest in the world. Keep your eye out for Cassowaries as they are frequently sighted along this road.
You do not need a 4wd vehicle, any regular hire car is sufficient to get around and see most of the Daintree and it's attractions. We guarantee that your favourite part of the Daintree will be your own private waterfall sanctuary at Daintree Secrets
