Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tropical Paradise We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of Far Pavilions from the level of accommodation & furniture, the saltwater pool, the easing walking distance to the main street and the entire ambiance of the villa. I was a little hesitant after looking at the reviews however I have to say I couldn't disagree more with the previous review, the entire place was clean and well kept and evidently someone takes pride in owning it. Being in the centre of town was what we were after so at times there was a little ambient noise but nothing to detract from our stay. The property manager was more than helpful so couldn't have asked for more. Being able to relax on the upstairs balcony after a cooling dip in the pool and enjoy the sunset before heading off to a relaxing dinner is my idea of relaxation. We will definitely be back for our next stay in Port Douglas.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disapointing The comment and star rating is not because of management - they were excellent with communicating and handling situations - although we had to get a repairman out to the bathroom and the Master Suite bifolds were not openable for the whole 7 days. And it's not for the unfortunate noise that comes from the live band that plays in the Irish pub most nights from right below the Villa. And it's not because the next door apartments left an unattended alarm going on three occasions - once for a straight ten hours from 10.30pm to 8am the next morning - which you can't avoid because the close proximity of the neighbours. And it's not because the Foxtel access was ridiculously limited.... it's actually not because the Villa isn't lovely. It's because at the peak rate of $545 per night the Villa is unloved and unkempt and not worth it. The spa is out of action and is half full of water, damaged and dirty - why not turn it into a day bed that can accomodate two people poolside which currently isn't possible. The only outside comfortable chairs are so old and dirty we had to cover them with blankets to sit on them. The outside areas up and downstairs were so dirty I had to try and clean up as best I could on arrival. My tips: This Villa desperately needs a day with a tradesman/landscaper to de-mould the pool area sandstone so you can sit on the pool edge, to replace dead plants in the bathrooms with supposed feature indoor gardens, to remove mould from the sandstone in bathrooms, gurni the decking areas and remove built up garden waste and dirt, clean the pavers under the dining table properly after a long period of built up gunk, refill the ugly moat at the entry with plants again. Oh and service all the bifolds so they actually open. Then I think this Villa could be worth the money. Resolve the issues that can be resolved is my advice to the owners of this property!!
