The Unit itself is built into the end of a steel building, that is adjacent to the main house, it is nicely furnished, air conditioned during the summer months, well equipped and private. It is a one bedroom unit with one bathroom and a kitchen dining and living area. It does have a double sofa bed in the living area so can accommodate more than two people if needed extra charges apply for more than two guests. It has its own lawn area off the bedroom that is nice and quiet and a great place to sit and contemplate the day that's been or your day ahead.
It is set in around 3 acres of private gardens nestled between sugar cane paddocks near the foot of the mountains of the Great Dividing Range. Laid to lawn with a large number of mature trees around the property many of which bare fruit at the right times of the year, it is a beautiful place to rest and enjoy some of the local wildlife especially birds. You are free to walk around most of the gardens and also plenty of walking can be done around the local cane farmland and creeks. This property was one of the earliest established cane farms in the Douglas Shire, and although the cane paddocks have long since been sold this is still the original homestead.
Your host Mandy is a very happy and welcoming person that will make your visit as pleasant as she can, and who will enjoy chatting with you and giving you advice on all the best attractions, restaurants and pubs, and how to get to them she is a mine of local knowledge. If you have any problems, or questions Mandy is always available on her mobile phone and someone is usually available at the main house as well.
Linen and towels are supplied and each morning a continental style breakfast is supplied which includes cereals and local fruits, also tea, coffee sugar and milk are supplied.
Mandy lives in the main house on the property along with her husband Mike and their two sons Matthew and Nathan, we also have three dogs Ronnie, Reggie and Gypsy along with a handful of chooks. The dogs can sometimes be heard barking but as a rule they are not encouraged to bark. Our family and friends do visit us regularly so the main house can be quite busy at times.
Although the unit is nice and private, it is adjacent to the main home and we are therefor considerate about how much noise we make when we have guests staying and would ask that our guests show us the same consideration.
House rules are.
No Smoking inside the unit.
No noise after 10:pm
No pets on furniture
