The Jungle Stays is one of the few private properties situated within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. You will be staying in a self contained space on the ground floor of an architecturally designed four storey house. Your hosts are multi award winning conservationists Jim and Jean Thomas. Feel free to explore the many walking tracks throughout the 115 acres of forest, have a refreshing swim in Massey creek or take a special spotlighting tour with Jean.
At The Jungle Stays you will have the entire ground floor space to yourself. This space is an open plan self contained unit which has a full kitchen, dining, lounge and queen sized bed. There is also a private bathroom with laundry facilities. Outside you have your own patio to enjoy the mountain view. Two children can be accommodated on a sofa bed and mattress.
The more fit and adventurous may like to explore the 115 acres of tropical rainforest and go bird watching for Golden, Satin and Tooth Billed Bowerbirds, Catbirds and if you are lucky Cassowary. Tree Kangaroos are also found here but difficult to see in the thick rainforest canopy. Massey Creek is easily accessible and suitable for swimming.
We can offer a breakfast basket containing local seasonal fruits, yoghurt and muesli. In the evening you can go spotlighting to look for the 8 species of Possums which can be found here.
The Jungle Stays is free of neighbours and noise which makes it the ideal getaway to unwind and relax. The clean, crisp, fresh rainforest air is sure to revitalise and renew the tired busy mind.
We are situated 4 km from the wind farm in Ravenshoe. There is no public transport so having your own vehicle is essential.
Other things to note
Some of the walking tracks are steep and difficult to walk. Good walking shoes, long pants and tops are recommended.
