It is located close to the wedding beach area, so is perfect for the wedding party and/or guests. And for those averse to beach weddings, its far enough away.
For the summer months the house is fully air conditioned.
For the few cool winter months there is a slow combustion heater and an ample supply of firewood. Sunset House is the only house at the Resort with a cosy open fire.
Sunset House is ideally suited for families, but it is a fantastic spot for a couple With its slightly quirky layout, the house can provide privacy for two families, with a queen and double bed in two quite separate areas. It could also be the perfect venue for a small corporate 'off site'.

Relax at Sunset House and use it as a base to explore unique Fraser island
Guests staying at Sunset House are offered full access to the facilities of the world class Kingfisher Bay Eco Resort, including pools, restaurants, bars, tennis courts and shops. The resort also offers many activities for adults and children. The house is close enough to the resort that you don't need a vehicle. However you might like to bring your own 4WD across on the barge or hire one to explore the island. It is the perfect starting point to explore magnificent Fraser Island. Don't forget whale watching from July to October.
You will be welcomed by the Resort. Make sure you look at their website and consult "Whats On" for a list of weekly activities.
Our best things to do:
Laze around the deck or the pool and read books.
Explore the Island with a 4WD. Swim at Lake Mackenzie, walk around Central Station, drive to Eli Creek/the Maheno wreck and Indian Head are the ‘must do’s’. If you don’t have a 4WD, either hire one or do an organised tour with the Resort. This is great way to see the island if you only have a short time on the island.
For the fishers, just try the jetty. Bait is available from the jetty hut.
Our best walks...down the beach to Mackenzie's Jetty and look at what’s left of the Z-Force Commando base. For the more energetic you can walk to Lake Mackenzie. Ask the Rangers for a map. Take water. Watch the tides on the Z Force walk. There is a nice short walk from the Resort start at the top of the hill to the Southern Lookout, then back to the Resort via a thirst quenching drink at the Sand Bar.
Whale watching...July to October. Amazing. And it’s only getting better. The whale watching boats will pick you up at the Kingfisher jetty not too early in the morning and drop you back around lunchtime. Not to be missed.
The eco thing - make use of the Rangers. They’re great, especially with the kids. The night walk is a must.
Do a bush tucker tasting book at reception.
Kingfisher is an unrivaled location for year-round bird watching. April-May-June are possibly the best months. Don’t forget to pack the binoculars. And don’t hesitate to ask the rangers if you can’t identify a bird.
