Windemere House was formerly the Nash family home. James Nash was the first to announce the findings of rich gold in October 1963 which went on to be one of the largest gold rushes in Australian History. James married his sweetheart Elizabeth in 1868 and built the house a year later in 1869. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.
James was honoured with a memorial fountain in Gympie Park.
The property is situated on an unsealed road. It is accessible by all vehicle types, it is recommended that you drive slowly to reduce dust.
