From the deck at The Crows Nest, the Pacific stretches to the horizon through the whole eastern arc, a full 180° ocean vista with the Pacific rollers swamping over the shore rocks, 100 meters below. Seemingly just out of reach, soaring on the ocean uplift at eye level in front of the deck, the magnificent white-bellied sea eagles keep an eye on everything below.
On the beach the tractor like crawl marks of the turtles coming up the beach to nest are fresh daily reminders of the uniqueness of Sunrise at 1770.
The Crows Nest is a bush retreat and informal tropical beach house, designed by renowned Troppo Architects (recently awarded the Australian Institute of Architects Gold medal for 2014 - the highest architectural award in Australia). Halfway between Gladstone and Bundaberg, the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water are 5 minutes from Crows Nest providing access to the Reef, varied fishing opportunities and the last surfing wave before the Great Barrier Reef calms the Pacific waters along Queensland’s northern coast.
The Crows Nest has two queen-sized master bedrooms each with its own bathroom adjacent, one perched above the Pacific and the other inserted into the surrounding rain forest.
The two bunkrooms each have 3 single beds and are either side of a big breezeway area fully enclosed by insect proof screens. There is a separate bathroom for the bunkrooms.
The Crows Nest is the perfect house for two families holidaying in the tropics. The enclosed Sunrise development provides two swimming pools, tennis courts, a children’s playground and numerous cabana’s complete with BBQ’s and outside furniture and cooking amenities. The roads, timbered walkways and bush tracks of Sunrise provide some spectacular ocean side and forest walking opportunities
The Crows Nest was designed and built for the Croser family of Tapanappa wines in the Piccadilly Valley in South Australia. It is their tropical retreat and is completely equipped for a life style based on good food, wine and the outdoor life style.
Although mobile telephone service is patchy there is a fixed telephone line and high speed internet.
The Crows Nest is a unique and inspiring beach house, which perfectly melds into the natural surrounds and provides a relaxed deck life perched above the Pacific Ocean.
