Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything we’d hoped for. We’ve just returned home after a 3 week stay at Lark Rise. Jackie was there to greet us when we arrived. She was very gracious and made us feel like much anticipated guests. We also appreciated all the little extras that had been left for us. A welcome sign, snacks, chocolates, Christmas crackers, milk, juice, tea, coffee ( including the good stuff) and a load of different toiletries. Lark Rise was exactly as the photos showed. Clean and spacious and very pleasant. What the photos didn’t show was how private it felt. Though the main house is close and overlooks the cottage, we were only really aware of them As we came an went or hung the washing out. The cottage actually looks away from the house and most of the time we felt we were living in the treetops. It was very quiet. Occasionally we heard a car or lawnmower in the distance, but mainly it was bush sounds and the occasional bleat of a goat. Yes, there are goats but you can’t smell them and they’re not noisy. It was actually quite nice to sit and watch them as they played -though they usually just lay around in the shade. The house itself was lovely a cool thanks to the very powerful air conditioner. Less so in the bedrooms (the weather was very sticky and hot) but thanks to the ceiling fans, the cold air circulated nicely and the bedrooms were kept very comfortable. We did have a couple of very hot nights when the air con broke down but that was just bad luck since the unit was obviously clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked for basic cooking needs. If you’re more a gourmet style cook, you may find it a little lacking. Jackie and Paul are very happy to try and supply additional needs from their own kitchen but not knowing what they have or if it would cause them a problem with their own planned meals, I hesitated to ask. I also got the feeling that if they didn’t have what I asked for that they might go out and buy it or run around to borrow one. They were just that obliging. I would like to make a special mention of the robot vacuum cleaner. The thing is in need of replacement battery (not holding charge) but for sheer entertainment it was worth the trouble of charging it. My husband couldn’t seem to stop playing with the thing. He said it was very relaxing to watch it go back and forth and would even spend time directing wherever he wanted it by blocking it’s path. Personally, I think it’s weird way to spend time but since it helped him relax, I’m not complaining :P A huge bonus that I really appreciated that was that Jackie, by pre arrangement, came in once a week to change the linen, vacuum and light clean. This alone made my holiday as I hate making beds, washing sheets and vacuuming. I will take this opportunity to warn anyone who has mobility problems that this house does present a challenge. It’s not insurmountable, but does bear consideration. I sometimes need to use my walking frame but the toilet room is quite small and that means the door couldn’t be closed when I was using the frame. This presents a particular problem as the doorway is visible to the lounge and dining area. Also, the shower has high sides, which I also found difficult to step over some days. Luckily for me, my husband was there to help but I could see it being a major issue for some people. Please don’t see this as a criticism of the facilities. So overall we were very glad to choose Lark Rise for our holiday and would recommend it to anyone who likes a peaceful environment and doesn’t mind a 10 minute drive to the shops.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ms Was a little disappointed as we had left the air on and my teenage son stayed while I went to get some groceries and while I was out she entered the home until my son caught her .. don’t get me wrong but I felt invaded as what if my son wasn’t there .... besides that it was nice and cosy but advised there was a washing machine and yet there wasn’t

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and private Clean cottage with plenty of space and privacy in a good location for visiting the Gold Coast if you like being 'away from it all' but still close to everything. Kitchen is large and well equipped and the owners are extremely helpful and there if you need anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect stay!! We cannot thank Jackie and Paul enough, so welcoming and friendly. Our house was so spacious, clean and fully self-contained. We enjoyed waking to the kookaburras each morning and watching the local bird life from the deck. Our daughter also loved meeting the baby goats. Will definitely stay again
