FernyBrook Cottage is a perfect retreat for couples seeking to enjoy the tranquility and natural surrounds of Springbrook World Heritage National Park: to relax, breath in the clean, fresh air and to take a moment to observe the beauty of nature. The cottage is owner operated and has a cosy, personal and friendly feel. We require at least 2 days advance notice of a booking. Check-in and check-out times are flexible and may be altered on request.
FernyBrook Cottage is conveniently located right next to the the walking trails of Springbrook National Park at Gwongorella Picnic area, near the top of Purling Brook Falls; plus the cottage's peaceful gardens and babbling brook provide ideal surrounds for bird watching and quiet meditation. And for those still in need of a good espresso coffee to start the day, Dancing Waters cafe serving coffee, cake and light meals is just a short walk away, as is the Springbrook General Store and Cafe which offers a wide selection of hearty meals and also has liquor licence and bar....So there is little need to drive once you arrive and the cottage's covered carport provides all-weather protection for your car.
The Cottage, built as a fore runner to the 'Mouses House', is of a similar chalet style with internal timber lining and has all the character of a cosy mountain cottage, plus it is set amidst a beautiful nature garden bordered by a babbling brook. The cottage is available for short term rental for singles or couples only, as we can only cater for up to two people. However, if there are two couples, we may be able to arrange accommodation for an extra couple with an adjacent cottage. We apologise that our accommodation is not suitable for children or for pets.
FernyBrook Cottage is fully self contained with a cosy wood fire wood supplied in the cooler months and reverse cycle air conditioning for those chilly nights. There is a comfy queens sized bed upstairs and the kitchen, bathroom and living area are downstairs. A large, covered back deck with a barbeque provides the perfect outdoor space for relaxation and bird feeding or for simply observing nature to the sounds and sights of the many birds and brightly coloured parrots that feed from the seed trays on the verandah and in the garden.
As the evening arrives or when staying indoors, for your entertainment there is a large selection of books, games, DVDs, and a flat screen TV .... or if you prefer you can just relax with a sherry and a good book from our extensive library, in front of the fire. The nights at Springbrook are so quiet and the stars are so bright that we suggest you take a torch lit walk to see how different the night sky is away from the bright lights of the Gold Coast....plus you may also spot the little nocturnal animals that come out to feed.
