"We stayed at 10 Coign for the New Year and could not fault the house and it's access and surroundings to the resort. Whist the house was included in the resort facilities it was peaceful and isolated from the traffic that a resort attracts. The house allowed easy access to all roads and the beach. We had two families in the house and were able to maintain our own privacy as well as mix when we chose to. A fantastic relaxing holiday. A luxurious house, with beach front access that offers all amenities that are required. Would have no hesitation in recommending this delightful spacious accommodation as well as Moreton Island which is a paradise."
GETTING TO MORETON ISLAND
As the Island is all sand and the tracks are all sand, the only vehicles that operate on the Island are 4WD.
Providing your vehicle is a 4WD, you can drive it on the island. Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world and has no sealed roads. All the tracks on the island are built for 4WD vehicles only. It is not recommended to bring an All Wheel Drive vehicle across as they are too low for proper clearance of the tracks.
The MiCat Ferry provides 4WD vehicle access to Moreton Island. Departing from the Port of Brisbane, the MiCat lands at the Tangalooma Wrecks approximately 30 minutes north of the resort on foot. For timetable, charges, information, bookings and enquires please use the contact details below.
GETTING TO TANGALOOMA WITHOUT A 4WD VEHICLE:
Passenger ferry services depart from Holt Street Wharf in Pinkenba, Brisbane and arrive at the Tangalooma Jetty on Moreton Island. Travelling time is just 75 minutes each way, with 3 services operating daily in each direction an additional service from Saturday through Monday.
Guests staying in private accommodation or outside resort property will have their luggage delivered to the closet luggage bay for collection.
Return launch transfers cost $80 per adult and $45 per child return for houseguests (valid until 31 March 2016).
Check-in at Holt Street Wharf is at least 30 minutes prior to departure time.
HISTORY OF MORETON ISLAND
Tangalooma Resort is located on Moreton Island, approximately 40 kilometres off the coast from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Moreton Island is one of the least polluted and least disturbed coastal environments along the Queensland-New South Wales coastline.
As the third largest sand island in the world, Moreton Island consists entirely of sand, apart from a small area of sandstone and rhyolite at Cape Moreton, which has built up over the past 400,000 years. It is also home to the highest stabilized coastal sand dune in the world, Mount Tempest, which at 285 metres provides 360 degrees of breath-taking views.
Moreton Island enjoys a moderate sub-tropical climate all year round, with temperatures averaging 22-30 degrees Celsius by day in the summer and between 12-22 degrees Celsius in winter.
