Stradbroke Island — one of the most unspoilt islands in Queensland—is easily accessible by car and passenger ferry from Brisbane.
Whale watching, surfing, deep sea fishing, nature walks, boating are all available on the island. Local stores will supply oysters, prawns, freshly caught fish, and home made bread for a simple picnic to take on a 4 wheel drive along the miles of beautiful beaches.
Winter is the best time for the fishing and for watching the migrating turtles. Summer is about lying in the sun, paddle boarding, and relaxing in the afternoon with an ice cream from Jennys famous ice cream shop at the Point, or enjoying a drink at the pub , in one of the most idyllic spots on the east coast of Australia.
The nine hole golf course is built on a sand base and while it is not one for the professionals the owner of this house organises a Straddy Classic every year on the course.
