Carbean property is steeped in history as it was one of the Traprock properties made available for selection in 1895 from the much larger property Glenelg which was settled in 1830’s.
Carbean’s original homestead, built in 1897 from timber slabs, still stands. Carbean is a working sheep property and still has the same family ownership since selection. Carbean Cottage was originally built as a schoolroom and governess quarters in 1920. It has been extended and has been recently refurbished with modern facilities to provide a memorable, comfortable, country experience with genuine country hospitality.
Situated 16 kilometres from the Cunningham Highway, the property is surrounded by nature’s noises and landscapes where one can relax. Activities could include mountain bike riding, bird watching, bushwalking, viewing historical sites, sketching, nature photography, campfire cooking and stargazing.
The Cottage accommodates 5 people with one Queen bed and singles. Fully self contained, linen and towels provided for your convenience, electric blankets, heaters and fans, fully equipped kitchen, TV and available laundry, Shower Toilet combination, BBQ facilities in homestead garden, No smoking.
Carbean Cottage is located in the Carbean homestead grounds.
Carbean is situated approximately 16 Km along Carbean Rd from the intersection with the Cunningham Highway, 5 km west of Karara. Please do not use navman or google maps until at Karara as they will give incorrect directions. The road number is 1588 Carbean Rd. This road is unsealed but very sound.
