A fifty metre bushwalk down the wooded hillside leads you to the cottage overlooking the waterlilies on the dam, leafy green vistas of 10 acres of Land for Wildlife, and air filled with birdsong. Luxurious linen and fluffy towels will wrap you in comfort, the leather lounge calls you to put your feet up, and the Queen bed is just perfect for a great night’s sleep.
Unwind on the expansive veranda and watch the sun set over the trees while the barbeque sizzles away, and just re-connect with YOU. We don’t take time to just stop. A complimentary bottle of wine and herb loaf invite you to look back through the days past, and cast a vision for the future. This is what The Retreat is all about.
The spare room offers a daybed and La-Z-Boy for if the book or magazine from the bookshelf causes heavy eyelids, a desk for journaling or writing a love letter materials provided, or even ‘working’ on your laptop – if you have to. Creatives can loan an easel from the artist-owner so that inspiration can be captured, and the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to whip up a gourmet meal if you are that way inclined.
The sparkling white bathroom will help soak all your cares away as you sit and sip a glass of wine amidst the bubbles – and complimentary eco-products will nurture you and the environment. Nature-inspired original artworks are a feast for eyes and spirit, with the stories behind each recorded for your pleasure, and TV viewing, a selection of movies, or board games can bring your day to a close.
Early risers may share daybreak with the resident wallaby, and watch the blue-jacketed kingfishers glean their breakfast from the dam. For those with energy to burn, bushwalks through the rainforest lead to gurgling creeks with rock pools and shallow-watered sandy creekbeds between the ferns and palms. Check out our 2-minute YouTube video titled The Retreat in Palmwoods for a glimpse of our beautiful environment.
Palmwoods village 3km away offers its own unique charm with character-filled shops and excellent eateries. If you’d like to see surrounding areas, Montville and the villages of the Blackall Range are 10 minutes’ drive west, with Mooloolaba and the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches are 20 minutes’ drive east. Further afield, Eumundi Markets’ handmade treasures and treats are world-renowned open Wednesday and Saturday, a myriad of National Parks are within 30 minutes’ drive, and the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens offers shady walks, undercover picnic tables, and an unforgettable Sculpture Walk. Andy Goldsworthy’s rock cairn in the Conondale National Park is another local treasure – if you’re keen to see his work, and are up to the challenge of part of the Great Walk. Books featuring local attractions, walks etc are provided in the cottage.
We cater for a maximum of three adults, but unfortunately children cannot be accommodated due to unfenced expanses of open water on the property.
No smoking is permitted inside the cottage but the patio caters for it in comfort – and due the threat of bushfire, guests are requested not to smoke elsewhere.
The Retreat offers a space where time slows down, the noise and clamour of the daily routine fades away, the eyes and heart can open, and you can take time to breathe…
