Description

A Pocket of Paradise …

‘AMARETTO‘, our almond room, is totally self contained with a beautiful timber kitchen, allowing guests to whip up delights of their choosing in private, and caters for a small group of guests. The suite is primarily designed, and most comfortable for, 2 adult guests, as there are two single beds, but if extra guests are booked in there is a comfortable double-sized sofa bed that is a couch by day. Our fixtures and fittings are not really child-friendly, and so we prefer to cater to guests 15 years and over. We have decorated the Amaretto suite in gentle shades of almond, highlighted with red, purple and charcoal accents, giving a very exotic feel to the décor.

A full timber kitchen, including a microwave, hotplates, mini-bar fridge, coffee maker and drink facilities are all available in the suite, to enable full privacy. All crockery, cutlery, glassware, cooking utensils, etc are supplied, along with all bedding and bathroom needs. These are all of very fine quality, for your pleasure. It is in fact a total 'KitchenAid' experience, with toaster, jug, saucepans and utensils all of this deluxe brand - teamed up with a luxurious Royal Doulton Chilli Red dinner set and crockery to match. Restaurant quality, but all for your own private use If you don't want to be bothered preparing your own meals, you can eat out at some of the local restaurants.

We provide a complimentary selection of teas and coffees, with wine and nibbles on arrival.

The view from the Amaretto Villa is of pure nature, looking out across the land with the hills in the distance, and all of our unusual animals can be seen grazing around. Everyone who sees it is delighted. Amaretto is a short walk from the parking area with its own private access just across the small Japanese bridge, and includes a very large and private fenced garden area for outside relaxation. Relaxing in the private garden is serenity at its best; couple that with the view of the ranges encircling the whole property and you have an area that exudes peace and bliss, giving a relaxing peaceful area to sit and watch the kangaroos at sunset. Each suite has a brazier / fire pit outside which beckons you to sit in the warmth of the glowing coals and gaze upwards to watch the magic of the Milky Way overhead

The suite is decorated with a modern touch, coupled with a cottage feel, making the subtle decorator tones very easy on the eye.

There is a full bathroom with shower and separate toilet - it is a dream with glass waterfall rain shower head and modern vanity basin.

There is heating and cooling, a ceiling fan, radio and a TV with DVD player, including many movies to choose from. We do not have TV channels, so only DVDs can be watched. giving you a perfect opportunity to unplug from the racy world back in the city

Beautiful designer linens are provided - 1000 thread-count Egyptian cotton sateen sheets, lots of comfortably soft down / feather pillows to rest into, luxurious bath towels, lots of other bathroom accessories, and even a couple of woollen throws and knee rugs for those chilly nights. We also provide an additional deluxe cellular organic Cotton Blanket for use either as an extra blanket on the bed on cold nights, or to replace the beautifully light-weight 100 Wool Doona on hot summer nights. Wool is naturally hypoallergenic and has many wonderful properties which may also benefit your health.

Guests in all rooms can choose to be fully self-contained if that is their choice. A commercial standard stainless steel kitchen is centrally located to all rooms.

The Retreat buildings. which include only three suites, are 50 to 100 metres from the main house, so you will have a completely private space with no intrusions whatsoever - unless you ask for our assistance ;

We are a Green Eco-sustainable establishment.

We care about the environment, and want our accommodation to be as Eco-friendly as possible. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week. We use recycled furniture in the way of antiques when suitable, and even our buildings themselves are recycled, having been resurrected and shifted to our property, then fitted out purposefully for our Retreat. During your stay you will find Eco low wattage lights; separated bins for waste and compost, and natural soaps. We have also included the most desirable composting toilets available, imported from Canada.

All water is supplied via Rain Water Tanks, so we ask you to be especially conservative and not to waste this precious and pure liquid

Our focus is on the environment and nature around us; you will have the constant pleasure of the beautiful sounds of birds. Based on a 40 acre rural property in the peaceful countryside of the Brisbane Valley, the setting is grassland and trees, filled with a multitude of wildlife, from birds to mammals and insects. Our guests will be delighted with our nature reserve location - we are proudly registered with the Wildlife Land Trust and Land for Wildlife, respectively, with over 75 species of birds and animals – and still growing

The Neighbourhood

Toogoolawah is world famous thanks to the proximity of the Ramblers Drop Zone. Famous for fun, the drop zone hosts thousands of national and international skydivers and features the biennial Equinox skydive and music festival each alternate October. Year round you can learn sport parachuting or thrill to a tandem skydive. The skydivers and their planes are frequently sighted as they drop just beyond the horizon.

Nearby Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield attracts flight enthusiasts with an interest in vintage, ultralight and military aircraft. The open day and fly-in each May is a popular event drawing aeronauts from across Australia.

Walk or bicycle the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail south to Esk or north to Harlin, where railway buffs will be interested in the Y turn and Yimbun tunnel.

In town you will enjoy the heritage value of the quirky Alexandra Hall that shows movies every Saturday, complete with canvas sling back chairs. You can also visit the historic Nestle Condensery building, converted into a regional art gallery, and the railway station now converted to a history museum provides local heritage and genealogy information.

Further afield in the Somerset Shire ....

Along with the breathtaking scenery, visitors can enjoy the rugged mountain ranges on the eastern slopes of the Great Divide, native bushlands, meandering rivers, hidden valleys, ploughed farmland and the towns and localities of Esk, Fernvale, Glamorgan Vale, Linville, Lowood, Toogoolawah, Kilcoy and Wivenhoe Pocket.

Only one hour from the CBD, Brisbane Valley is the gateway to the Brisbane River catchment, offering a wonderful place to visit for those seeking recreational and leisure activities.

It is a place of tranquillity, a place for inspiration, a place for discovery, and best of all - a place to relax and create. The peace and serenity of the region is interspersed with the placid waterways of the Brisbane River and surrounding dams, and set against a backdrop of extensive patchwork farmlands surrounded by the eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A retreat to switch off I stayed at villa Amaretto for 2 nights on my business trip. The resort is located in a beautiful area of what may well be as close to "nature" as it gets. The host Mikayla was very helpful and showed me the facilities, like the gym and bbq -- which unfortunately I did not have time to use. I was impressed that the resort is trying to be fully eco, with solar installation pending, and in particular the aircraft-style toilet! Since the purpose of my trip was work, having functional WiFi was great, but I found it a bit inconvenient that the property had no area where I could put my laptop (like a table), so I had to improvise :-). But if you are coming to enjoy nature and switch off (particularly from TV) -- this is perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peaceful Retreat Our family of four stayed here whilst visiting friends. The room was cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped for us to cook our own meals. We loved sitting outside on the patio next to the fire and looking a the beautiful sunset and watching the stars at night. Our host, Mikayla was super helpful and approachable. She was great with the kids and took us on a tour to see all the animals on the farm. We highly recommend Amaretto to anyone looking for a peaceful time out from the hustle and bustle. Thank you so much Mikayla :)
