Alpha Eight one bedroom apartment in this contemporary complex is located so close to down town Airlie Beach you can leave the car at home.

During the day chill out at the relaxing lagoon to energise your self for a night on the town at the fantastic restaurants and night spots that Airlie boasts. Enjoy el fresco dining out on the patio. This entire complex has been designed with tropical living in mind and faces North to capture the cool, sea breezes, and the picturesque sea views from the balcony. Stylishly decorated this apartment has all the mod cons you would expect in a modern complex.

Separate bedroom has Queen sized bed and large built in wardrobe opening out to the fully equipped kitchen, stainless steel appliances and high island bench eatery. Enjoy the open plan lay out which incorporates modern facilities including large Plasma, DVD and ipod dock for your entertainment. This apartment is also air conditioned.

Located in a separate building to the rest of the complex with only one other twin key apartment in the block and can be accessed from the side street or the main entrance off Waterson Way. Although part of a twin key set this apartment is designed with privacy in mind and has shared laundry facilities with the studio.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice property, poor management made it un-stayable The apartment is on the small side but would work well for a couple who wants to explore the area. It is walking distance to the main street and not too far uphill, so is quite easy walk to everywhere in Airlie Beach. It is quite comfortable with many amenities available. The quality of the amenities provided however (e.g., pots and pans) is low, and needs to be replaced. The lack of wifi was a disadvantage especially as we had asked about it to management and never got an answer prior to arrival, even the management was surprised that there was not wifi. The washing facilities are shared with the sister flat next door. The stairs from the garage to the flat, or even the road to the flat are steep, and not suitable to those with limited mobility. The pool is nice and was never busy when we were there so it was nice to cool down on a hot day, although we prefered going to the lagoon 10 mins walk away with our infant daughter as it was more convenient with her. Overall nice little flat with minor maintenance issues to fix. Our experience with management was however appalling. The booking process was unnecessarily painful. When booking with Stayz, it is redirected to the agency, you are asked to pay for a deposit. Though it first appears that you can pay online by credit card this is not the case, and you need to pay by bank transfer or ring a second agency to pay by credit card. As we booked in advance we only needed to pay the deposit, however just 3 days later we needed to repeat the process to pay the remaining balance. The management had not thought ahead to offer to let us pay in full, and had forgotten that we needed to pay by card as we did not have an Australian bank account, so we would have had to pay for international wire transfers twice. The check-in was complex to say the least. We received several automated emails with details about how to receive the keys. As we arrived on a bank holiday the main office in Airlie Beach was closed, and the email stated that we would need to collect the keys from a key box. This email pointed us to at least two different physical addresses, one of which was next door to the apartment, but closed. We emailed the management company and were told that we would receive a text the day before check-in, it did not come and we had to email again only to be told that it would be available on the day. We informed the management that we were travelling with our 6 month old daughter and that it was important to be able to arrive at the apartment to keep her schedule. The MMS arrived when we were nearly in Airlie beach just before check-in time, when we found the box (hidden behind the office), our keys were not there. We called the manager who seemed oblivious to what was happening and said that she would call back. Eventually she returned the call and said that her cleaner had quit that morning and that new cleaners were at the property, and that we should collect the keys from them. Once at the property and meeting the cleaners who were absolutely lovely despite the circumstances, we understood that the tenants prior to us had made a complete mess of the place and that the manager had been aware of the situation with the cleaner who had quit since at least early that morning, but had neglected to inform us that we may be delayed in receiving the keys. The manager had not arranged for the cleaners to receive our keys and they only had a master set. Luckily they were both very helpful and offered to retrieve a set from the key box (apparently the manager was able to tell the cleaners which unmarked set in the key box was ours by phone, but was not able to tell us by phone). We informed the manager of the numerous issues with the check-in and that it should be looked into, we had hoped that would be the end of the complications only to have a stranger with another set of keys to our apartment walk-in just a few hours later. It turned out to be the person from the neighbouring apartment who had the same issue with the manager, and had been given an envelope with our keys and our names on it At this point we were fairly frustrated with the management and called her to explain the new circumstances, she eventually offered to refund our first night’s stay and we forwarded her our bank details. Two weeks later and we are still awaiting the refund, and have emailed and called her but to no success. So overall, nice flat with massive management issues. If you are not ready to put up with booking and check-in issues, and the possibility of other people walking into your rented accommodation, we’d suggest finding another place to stay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from convenient location The apartment was clean and very comfortable a very convenient location to walk to Airlie main street area and waterfront. The apartment needs bug screens on the bedroom window and balcony doors, as the mosquitoes venture in at night. If you are a non smoker do not book this apartment as the permanent neighours directly below are chain smokers and the use of the apartment balcony is very limited the heavy cigarette smoke makes its way into the apartment and is very unpleasant.
