Oakwood Park Cottage offers a tranquil self-contained getaway within easy reach of the central Adelaide Hills' many attractions. Offering 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a separate family room that converts to a 3rd bedroom, there is plenty of room to move for couples or families.
Tucked away within an iconic Equestrian Centre in South Australia the cottage was originally a dairy, converted into a cosy family home in 1980. Fully renovated to make the most of its natural charm in 2015, the Cottage is now available for visitors to the beautiful Adelaide Hills.
Enjoy fully self-contained superior accommodation with the most amazing views for up to 6 people. Children are welcome.
The cottage offers a full gourmet country kitchen, with glass-top hotplates, country oven, Miele dishwasher, coffee machine and full set of cooking equipment and crockery. Luxuriate in the gorgeous northern sun throughout winter, watching the blue wrens play outside the kitchen window.
The main living and dining room is spacious and well-furnished, offering plenty of room for shared dining and relaxing, with an antique desk for writing out those postcards. That is, if you can drag yourself away from the full-length windows looking across the vineyards!
A smaller family room offers somewhere for the kids to call their own, with flat-screen tv and Nintendo games available. Again this room is a warm haven during winter thanks to the northern sun. This room also has a super comfortable queen-size sofa bed if needed.
The two separate bathrooms are large, modern and well-fitted. The main has heated towel rails, both have overhead heat lamps. A fully equipped laundry provides a front-load washer and clothes dryer.
The master king size bedroom has plenty of room, its own flat-screen television, and again those views over the valley from the large sliding door that leads out to a small deck under a magnificent gnarled and shady tree.
A quaint mezzanine loft bedroom contains both a queen and single bed for flexibility. Decorated in a chic French Provincial style the loft gives you charm and views with English Oak windows looking west through glorious Ash trees toward Mt Lofty.
All linen is supplied, with quality 1000+ thread count sheets and thick cotton bath towels to ensure your comfort. Reverse cycle air conditioning, a wood fire, heated towel rail, wall panel heaters in the bedrooms and electric blankets ensure you are toasty and cosy in winter. The cottage is naturally cool in summer with the aircon and ceiling fan dealing with the hottest days with ease.
A carport ensures your vehicle is also taken care of, along with ample parking for an additional 2 or 3 cars. The cottage comes complete with private lawned areas, enclosed garden and BBQ facilities so feel free to invite some guests to share an idyllic afternoon.
Close to everything, yet away from it all, Oakwood Park Cottage is right next door to the world-famous Oakbank Racecourse, home of the world's largest Picnic Races every Easter and music events throughout the year. The Cottage is also right at the head of the Amy Gillett Trail, where walkers, bicycle and horse riders share the beauty of the historic old rail corridor winding its way to Mt Torrens. Oakbank Golf Club is also just at the top of our road and welcomes guests.
Famous Adelaide Hills wineries, cellar doors and Historic Hahndorf are a mere 10 minutes away. Nepenthe, Shaw & Smith, The Lane, and Hahndorf Hill are just the start of your cellar door options.
And of course, the Barossa Wine District is less than an hour north, just follow the beautiful Onkaparinga Valley Road through some of South Australia's most majestic gum country.
Admist all this beauty and adventure, Oakwood Park Cottage is your own private haven. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the property, enjoy your evenings overlooking the neighbouring vineyards and the beautiful Onkaparinga Valley.
