Set in over an acre of gardens on the banks of the river Angas sit our heritage listed C1860 bluestone restored cottages.
The Gasworks once provided the gas for the town of Strathalbyn until it ceased production in 1917 and is now beautifully converted to accommodation for its owners and guests in our lovingly restored fully separate cottages.
Managers Cottage is a charming cottage with a beautiful four poster bed in its own private room with direct access to the spa bathroom this cottage as its name suggests was the original cottage lived in by the Manager and his family to be onsite of the Gasworks factory the living room is open plan style and contains both a pretty partly curtained Queen bed and a sofa bed we do recommend only for one to sleep on the sofa bed comfortably maximum 5 people in cottage recommended.
The Managers cottage can be booked for only two persons as the second bedroom can be closed off. The beautifully appointed bathroom has a two person spa bath as well as large shower and has two way access both from the main cottage and the Four poster bedroom. Modern conveniences such as split air conditioning and tv and dvd player are included, the living also contains an open working fireplace from yesteryear. Choose to cook breakfast in your own kitchen with the ample provisions provided free of charge or have your breakfast cooked for you and enjoy on our vine covered terrace overlooking the gardens for an additional cost.
For couples looking for a more romantic getaway, check our listing for our cosy Stables Cottage, complete with two person spa and kitchette. We offer a romance package, which consists of a bottle of locally produced wine red or white chocolates, massage oils and the use of a massage table in the privacy of your own cottage. Contact us after booking to arrange the romance package, cooked breakfasts or to discuss any other special requests.
We have a large range of DVDs to loan free of charge as well as books and magazines. A laundry is also available for use.
We are situated in the beautiful historic town of Strathalbyn, the southern end of High Street, just a short stroll from the town centre with its Antique shops, Heritage railway and many dining options, including The Olfactory Inn 2016 SA Winner of best new restaurant. Local wineries and a golf course are within a 10/15 minute drive. Beautiful beaches at Goolwa, Port Elliot and Victor Harbour are an easy short drive away 30/40 mins.
