Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lovely retreat A lovely retreat in the heart of the Barossa A weekend stay, during which we cooked up the local produce from the weekend market and enjoyed the local wines. The cottage provided us everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Great breakfast provisions and pre-dinner snacks; a warm bed and roaring fire tio keep away the cold The memories evoked by all the memorabilia provided constant conversation and laughter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it! Our stay at Capt. Rodda's Cottage ticked all the boxes we were after. Complementary bubbly, dukkah and bread provisions got our stay off to an excellent start. The fixings supplied for three days of continental breakfasts took care of the mornings and there was more than enough in the way of utensils and cooking facilities so we were able to prepare any other meals that we required. Cook all your favourites to complement the magnificent wines that you will undoubtedly aquire locally. Take a while to explore the nic-naks all around the cottage and see how many of them ring a bell from 50 or 60 years ago. Make sure that you investigate the interesting books that are available, perhaps with a chocolate and the odd sup or two from the complementary port decanter, as a log glows in the hearth. Old, charming, warm and comfortable. A house as easy to live in as your own. Enjoy Capt. Rodda's Cottage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Charming old world feel We had three lovely nights at the cottage and the wood fire was certainly put to use. Great location as is very central to the wineries. Fran does a great job of making her guests feel welcome.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK Have just stayed at Captn Roddas, the cottage was definitely nice. Having paid top dollar for our stay however as we also took our dog I was extremely disappointed with the meagre, basically pitiful, breakfast provisions provided and the fact that we had paid extra to take our dog but were then given instructions of where we could not allow her to go. GIven we were two people staying for two nights and two mornings the 500 mil small bottle of orange juice supplied was an absolute joke, I mean seriously?? Also the four weetbix wrapped in plastic was also too much of a joke to bear. We have stayed at plenty of B and B,s, cheaper, dog friendly, with beautiful views and wonderful breakfast provisions. Our stay for my birthday was definitely OK but I wouldn't bother going back given the much nicer and superior value places we have stayed before.
