A scenic 1.5 hours drive from Adelaide CBD, Ithaka Cottage is an intimate self-contained oasis for discerning individuals/couples who wish to avoid holiday centres dominated by crowds, supermarkets and busy roads, preferring instead a calm, natural locale. At Ithaka Cottage, the open-plan living and dining rooms is dominated by uninterrupted, expansive views of coast, ocean and Kangaroo Island. Sit on the front verandah decking and watch ferry crossings on the Backstairs Passage to and from Kangaroo Island. Enjoy the native bird life of rosellas, galahs, and other parrot species, as well as many other other varieties such as blue wrens and wedge-tail eagles. Be utterly relaxed as stunning sunsets over the Island enliven the breathtaking coastal panorama. Dream and float with the island so close, just 10 kilometres across the Backstairs Passage. Enjoy all this with the serenity and delightful retreat that is Ithaca Cottage. Complete with modern conveniences, furnished in comfortable mid-twentieth century and contemporary style and decorated with original artworks. Conveniences include an easy-to-use and modern galley kitchen with microwave, oven and fridge; a large 42inch flat-screen HD LCD TV with extensive and free a 200 DVD plus in-house library that ranges from drama, SciFi, Musicals, documentary and other; FREE INTERNET, Apple TV, as well as many streaming services including NETFLIX & STAN; Gas BBQ; washing machine; and safe off-street parking. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom has a convertible sofa-lounge/bed: the two bedrooms each sleep 2 couples maximum 4 adults, or two adults and 1-2 children.

However, for the locals and a number of Adelaide in-the-know people, it is a unique place which has much to offer: TRANQUIL or DRAMATIC - take your pick Spectacular uninterrupted coastal sea and island views and incredible sunsets; bushland walking it is the start of the famous Hans Heysen Trail; fantastic fishing; sights include unique heritage ruins of the nearby Talisker Silver Mines and Conservation Park; Deep Creek National Park; rich native bird and wildlife; enjoy nearby beaches of white sand and pristine waters which are practically deserted. Relax in the delightful and stylish open-plan living, self-contained Ithaka Cottage: read, watch movies, listen to music, or just dream and refresh with the island view....or even take a day-trip Ferry journey across the Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo island - just 11 kilometers across from Cape Jervis.
The secret of Cape Jervis is that is it unspoiled, and thankfully undeveloped just one pub - good for day or evening meals - and one grocery/supplies Deli and take-away store which closes at 5.30pm.
Within 5 minutes drive to the Kangaroo Island Ferry departure point, Ithaka Cottage can be an excellent rest stop for a couple of days on your way to Kangaroo Island.
