You are welcome at our relaxing Holiday house. It represents a happy lifestyle that brings together families across the generations. We understand families, grandparents & kids It's our fun & escape house too.
Our place is Yours to share. We like families, kids & occasional small pets
Just 75 minutes drive down South, a change of house can create a positive feeling. There's a great community feel at Goolwa
We are a family friendly holiday house with a 'beach shack' feel, with 4 bedrooms. Situated between Goolwa Beach and the Murray River Lake shore, near Barrage Road. We are close to all featured entertaining areas, by easy walking or just a few minutes driving.
Our house is attractive and clean with an open 'shack style' format in the garden setting of South Lakes, a traditional holiday place. Just 2 minute's walk to the South Lakes Golf Course, or the excellent AquaCaf restaurant and Fleurieu Function Centre restaurant, Aquatic Club and the Regatta Yacht Club. From there, you have a short walk to the Cockle Train Station and Ballast Stone Restaurant, Steam Brewery etc at the classic Goolwa Wharf Precinct, straight along the lakefront walkway.
This is a privately owned home, in a quality holiday home area with native gardens & trees. We love our holiday house and we share it as a way to offset costs.
Top Rated: Our house rates highly, just by positive guest approvals ~ because we offer fair pricing and pay attention to guest requirements. We are flexible with hours of entry and exit. Guests have our phone number and can call 24/7 for any assistance.
The house is a classic but updated two-storey Goolwa Shack house at South Lakes, with four 4 bedrooms, one that is actually a large open layout downstairs for multiple kids or sometimes used for a separate family.
Goolwa is just a 75 minute drive from Adelaide via the Hills Freeway, to Mt Barker & Strathalbyn; or by the Southern Expressway / Victor Harbor Road. You don't need to bring much with you to have a great time.
[Guest comment: "We had a fantastic long weekend. It was very quiet and relaxing and the way you have set up the home meant we had everything on hand. The open plan of the house meant that we could have our own space but still talk to each other On Sunday morning we went for a walk around the area and it felt like we had been away for weeks. It really felt like OUR holiday house, so thank you so much for sharing it with us." Ali & Brian, Adelaide]
[Guest comment: "We recently had to attend a family event in Goolwa and would normally use a motel for such a sudden visit but this was so much better. The instructions were foolproof, the place was spotless and had everything that you would normally reach for at home. We are home again now and it seems like it was with much less effort than usual and we can only put it down to being able to relax like we were at home."]
At our house you'll hear the rolling ocean, just beyond the golf course and sandhills. Nearby Goolwa Beach has on-beach access for 4WD adventures to the Murray Mouth and Beach Fishing. For less adventurous drivers, any car can drive to the sheltered saltwater side Coorong boat ramp at Beacon 19, just a few minutes drive down Barrage Road, alongside the River, where you can fish in tidal estuary waters nearer the Murray Mouth. The movie 'Storm Boy' was filmed right around here.
Nature Rules: Bird watchers will be amazed with the wild life. Nearby is a World Standard Wilderness zone without the eco-tourist hype, all just a few minutes from our house.
Autumn or Winter: Down here next to the Southern Ocean is a great time to get away. The house is like a haven from the roar of the ocean, just 500 metres away. We are sailing people, and being in the house is a bit like being out there offshore. We love the sounds.
Space for All: The house has comfortable space for 8 or more people, or even for two flexible families by agreement. Comfortable modern furnishings and a big split system heat/cool air-conditioner unit are a feature. Widescreen digital TV and DVD with our many quality film & music event DVDs for your use. Toilet facilities upstairs and down. Under the balcony there's a big gas BBQ ready for dinner/ breakfasts. Plus a Weber charcoal Kettle BBQ - if you know how.
Goolwa South Lakes is ideal for families to enjoy water sports or fishing. You have access to the ocean seawater via the excitement of traversing the Sea Lock through the Goolwa Barrage to cruise to the Coorong estuary and Murray Mouth. Water skiing, parasail boarding, trailer-sailing or even r/c model boating is a feature of the protected lakes. You are just a minute from the water at Open House Goolwa.
