Welcome to Millpond

Having just undergone extensive renovations, Millpond is a modern, 3 -bedroom, 2 - bathroom house overlooking spectacular views to the mainland. The house sleeps 8 adults comfortably. Two bedrooms have Queen-sized beds and the third bedroom has two bunk beds. Large sliding doors and windows in living areas and the master bedroom provide sensational views of beautiful Hog Bay and Penneshaw beach.

Millpond is just 25 meters to a clean white sandy beach, which is ideal for families and water activities. A spacious deck and barbeque facilities allows for casual relaxation or entertaining and a fully equipped bespoke kitchen ensures you have everything you need at your fingertips. Open plan living with modern appliances and furnishings and 2 modern bathrooms makes for a comfortable stay. All linen - including beach towels - included as part of your stay. Perfect for one or two families.

A well maintained garden with outside fish cleaning facilitates and plenty of parking for cars and boats makes Millpond an ideal setting for the anglers amongst you.

An efficient potbelly wood heater and cosy ambiance also makes Millpond a perfect retreat in the cooler months.


Situated in the pretty seaside village of Penneshaw, Millpond overlooks Backstairs Passage and faces mainland South Australia. Either winter or summer, Millpond provides an ideal holiday location. 25mts from a pristine beach and minutes walk to local shops, ferry terminal, Sealink offices bookings for island tours, local attractions penguin tours, golf course, Christmas Cove boat launching facilities, restaurants and resident fairy penguins and wallabies. Local wineries, stunning beaches and other attractions are easily accessible from here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five star excellence Absolutely beautiful in every way. The view is stunning. MIllpond is modern, clean, spacious and very comfortable. The amenities are plentiful and of high standard. Perfect for a family stay. We would gladly recommend Millpond to all Kangaroo Island visitors. This beach house is an absolute credit to the owners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of both worlds It is apparent that the owners of Millpond have high quality taste from everything to the furnishings and kitchen accessories (obviously love cooking!) to ensuring your every need is provided, including the view! A home away from home very close to Penneshaw shops and the Sealink ferry. Whilst being on one side of the island, we were able to visit Seal Bay, Admirals Arch, Remarkable Rocks and loop back via the KI Wildlife Park to cuddle a koala and dingo within a day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it all, don't bother staying anywhere else! From the moment we arrived we thought it a beautiful property in a gorgeous location looking over the beach. Beautiful to sit on the front sunlit porch, listening to the waves, whilst also looking out at the Sealink ferry and the odd cruise ship pass by. The property has been renovated and features top quality appliances, fixtures and beautiful decor. The fireplace worked beautifully providing a lovely ambience and was fully stocked ready to light upon arrival. Millpond provided everything needed to make our stay comfortable, right down to supplying spices for cooking and thermos for travelling. Property was super clean and well maintained. Located in Penneshaw which we found a great place to stay as it was prettier (we thought) than Kingscote and located close to Cape Willoughby which has amazing scenery; Dudleys winery and Zest and Thyme Cafe worth a visit. Is a bit of a drive to get to the other side of the island, ie Flinders Chase Nat Park, but it would be from Kingscote also and we were happy to retreat to Millpond after a day out. If you take unsealed roads as a shortcut like we did, be prepared for a few rough potholes! Thanks Millpond, highly recommended and would stay here again before considering anywhere else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home away from home Millpond was recommended by friends who had previously stayed there. It was everything they said and more. The owners have spared no expense in providing a top quality holiday home. We holiday around Australia all the time andMillpond was by far the best equipped home we have ever stayed in. As a person who enjoys cooking the kitchen appliances and everything to cook with were first class. We only stayed for 3 days and wished we had booked for longer. Will definitely stay there again if we revisit Kangaroo Island. The only downside staying in Penneshaw is the isolation from the rest of the island if you want to have a look around. It required a 50km drive to the turn off to Kingscoate each time, as there is no other direct road access.This was was only a small thing as it was a pleasure to return home each day to the comforts of Millpond.
