Located in the heart of Coonawarra township, Girraween House is a spacious self-contained house located on a quiet street surrounded by the famous vineyards of Coonawarra.
Guests can enjoy a fully equipped modern kitchen with breakfast provisions for the duration of your stay; the pantry is stocked with day to day needs for your convenience including a selection of teas and coffee. Girraween House has two separate living areas, one with a slow combustion fire and R/C air conditioner for your comfort. Separate dining leads off the kitchen through to an outdoor entertaining area with a BBQ set in an enclosed private garden. Secure undercover parking for three cars also adjoins the house. Coonawarra is famous for its Terra Rossa soil and award winning wines and is home to over 20 cellar doors. Girraween House is ideally located to take part in the Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail; a 5km loop that includes a visit to Wynn’s Coonawarra Estate, Brands Laira Coonawarra, Redman Wines, Zema Estate and DiGiorgio Family Wines cellar doors. Along the way, you can dine in at Fodder Restaurant or collect a gourmet picnic to go from The Coonawarra Store.
Coonawarra is in the heart of the Limestone Coast… only an hour’s drive from the coastal towns of Beachport, Robe and Kingston; less than 30 minutes from Naracoorte’s World Heritage Listed fossil caves and the Bool Lagoon wetlands and 45 minutes from Mount Gambier and its famous Blue Lake.
The historic town of Penola is 10km south of Coonawarra and has a rich history to explore. Both the Mary MacKillop Centre and the Penola Interprative Centre offer memorable insights into aspects of the history of the region.
