In 1839, Poltalloch Station was a fully self sufficient sheep station and home to some of the earliest pastoral pioneers of South Australia. Poltalloch Station has retained many of the core buildings from the hey-days of early settlment, including a Shearing Shed, General Store, Carpenter and Blacksmiths Workshop, Barns and Stables.
Poltalloch Station offers walking tours of the historic buildings on site by appointment. Located on the shores of Lake Alexandrina, guests are also enouraged to swim, sail, boat and fish. Unfortunately the jetty is not available for use due to recent storm damage.
