Soak up the heritage at a museum, hop aboard a historic ferry or simply take advantage of the waterways to do some boating, fishing or jet skiing. Not far from town, the Murray River flows into Lake Alexandrina, where you’ll find plenty of spots for swimming. Back on dry land, discover native flora at one of the reserves or gardens.

Holiday rentals in Wellington range from cosy apartments to family homes and even houseboats.

Wellington boasts a series of heritage buildings dating back to 1841. Travellers can wander the streets to discover some of the national trust properties, including the Wellington Court House, which is now a museum. Top off your visit to the courthouse with a light snack in the tearoom.
