Welcome to one of the most beautiful and secluded destinations in Australia, perfect for couples and families alike.

Binalong Bay is a small coastal town, 15 minutes drive from St Helens and 2.5 hours drive from Launceston. Condé Nast Traveller named it the second most beautiful beach in the world and it was declared the world's hottest travel destination, by Lonely Planet in 2009. It has the whitest, fine hourglass sand and bluest azure water in the world, along with the magnificent granite boulders, dusted with bright orange lichen.

Our original 1950s, "board and batten" timber cabin, is located in the spectacular east cost of Tasmania. Perched directly opposite the magical Binalong Bay beach, the home is furnished with an eclectic blend of period pieces, many of which have been handmade by local craftsman.

- The home comfortably sleeps up to 4 people but can accommodate 5, if required. It has a master bedroom with built-in wardrobe upstairs and sleep-out downstairs with a double and single bed incl. wardrobe and dressing table but no internal access and no downstairs bathroom

- There is also a day-bed in the lounge room, which is very comfortable as an extra bed.

NB: Guests in the downstairs room will need to use the external stairs to access the rest of the house.

NOTE: Minimum 5 day booking over Christmas, New Year and Easter periods.

- Cabin kitchen, well equipped for your gourmet Tasmanian feasts incl. oven, microwave and fridge.

- Stunning ocean views from the living room, which also has a traditional fireplace, perfect for cosy winter evenings.

- The combined bathroom/laundry contains a basin, shower, flushing toilet and washing machine.

- Large deck/balcony suitable for outdoor dining complete with BBQ facilities or just relaxing as the sun sets over the water.

Please contact us with any questions you have. We look forward to helping you book an incredibly relaxing vacation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Home Away From Home Our stay would best be described as rustic, charming and priceless. We arrived on a cold, windy and rainy afternoon and was greeted by a lovely fire set ready to go with enough wood inside to last our first evening. Rainy days were spent relaxing with a book overlooking the bay of fires. The longer we stayed the harder it was to leave at the end of our trip. We have stayed 4 times now at Binalong Bay in different accommodation and this has been our favourite so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shack in Tassie It's the 4th I've stayed at the Beach Shack, having been coming to Binalong for around 35 years, this is by far for me the perfect accommodation. It is a truly authentic shack, with everything I would want at my disposal to unwind, with no fuss. The shack is furnished with an eclectic mix of furniture, with the lounge room and main bedroom having spectacular views of the Bay of Fires. Only a stone's throw from the boat ramp, is perfect for launching the boat/ski, and also a good spot to snag some calamari on dusk. Also only a 2 minute walk to arguably one of the worlds whitest and cleanest beaches, and also, Bay of Fires lays claim to The Lonely Planet's 2009 No.1 destination in the world. The Beach Shack offers the perfect location to launch your explorations into this perfect part of the world, and also the facilities and shack style comfort to return home to, not to mention cooking your freshly caught seafood over the wood fired BBQ. My family and I see this as out number one holiday pick, not only for the nostalgia and the location, but for the ease and comfort of the accomodation itself, Elizabeth is great to deal with, and there has never been an issue from booking to vacating the property. I can't recommend the Beach Shack more highly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Think Carefully - lovely spot Binalong Shack We looked at the web sites and the Reviews and it looked great. It was great. At least the views of the Bay of Fires all along the coast were excellent. However, the “shack’ was pretty much that. If you want a 1950’s experience it is the place for you. The electrics are marginal at best with extension leads everywhere and double adapters, the water from a rusty tank and needs boiling to be drinkable, and the windows and roof all rattle in the wind. The furnishings and fittings appear as a potpourri of left over items from jumble sales somewhere. The house was generally clean and had one bedroom upstairs and another downstairs, the latter with no access to a toilet or bathroom. The toilet/shower was very basic indeed, as was the kitchen. So if ‘shabby-chic’ is what you seek, it is one of those two aspects. It really needs new furniture, repairs to various fittings and new furniture that actually suits the layout – like being able to see the TV from anywhere except the dining table. We were moved by the area and the Bay itself, but the ‘shack’ needs a lot of refurbishing and repair work to capitalise on the available views, and the prices asked (it should also be noted that the cost of rental does not include the $90 ‘cleaning fee” that is added on all occasions). Sorry we could not recommend this place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A step back to a happier time! My wife and I had 5 sensational nights here which in hindsight wasn't enough! We found the character and vibe of the property to be truly unique and loved the feeling of being back in our childhood holiday homes, but with all the comforts of today. From the awesome fireplace to the superb position to the feeling of relaxation the minute you walked through the door, our stay here was a highlight of our trip! We'd return in a heartbeat, the owners were very helpful and have created a unique and memorable experience for all of us lucky enough to be guests in their home.
