Industrial chic meets Retro – Welcome to our large Holiday Home overlooking the pristine northern coast of Tasmania. As you look out onto the view of the headland, you will take in the rolling green paddocks that fatten up your next Tassie steak or lamb cutlet. Or vegetarian might be your path to feast your way across our fascinating island. Yes, we are proud of our farmers!
Our Holiday home is your perfect retreat while discovering all that Tasmania has to offer. We aim to create a shanty-type-feel with the eclectic richness that sums up our island home. Full of natural light with new, recycled and unusual furnishings, you may be tempted to just shut the door and sigh. And why wouldn’t you? With 4 bedrooms and 2 lounge rooms, there is plenty of space to hang out together without feeling claustrophobic. Farm fresh produce is on offer at many of our local markets - create your comfort food, snuggle down, and enjoy your surroundings. Then walk it off along the paths winding through the reserve bush land to the many faceted beach fronts.
All the comforts of home are here for you – fresh clean linen on the beds, multiple pillows of varying thickness, electric blankets to take the chill off, soap, shampoo, conditioner and laundry powder. Pantry items include a selection of cereals, a carton of milk, sauces, herbs and spices. Choice of tea awaits you – Earl Grey, English Breakfast and fruity green teas. If coffee is your go-to drink, there is a coffee pod machine with a milk frother for your morning buzz, as well as a selection of instant coffee.
Bed configuration is:
1 Queen bed
1 Double bed
1 King single bed
2 Single beds
We enjoy a bike ride when we are here and we thought you may too. Please feel free to use our bikes for your enjoyment, just be safe and use the helmets as well.
Bike sizes are:
1 adult male bike,
1 adult female bike,
2 male teenage bikes that suit our 14 year old,
1 small female bike that suits our 10 year old.
All bikes are geared except for the smallest. The Bluff beach with great kids’ playgrounds and patrolled beach is about a 10 – 15 minute bike ride from the house. Or if the beach isn’t doing it for you there is 'Splash', Devonport’s aquatic centre, which is about a 5 minute bike ride from the house.
We have some board games, puzzles and some books for those days that you just want to laze around the house. There is also a small TV with DVD player and an assortment of DVD’s from G – M ratings. Or you may like to search for the arsenal of Nerf toys hiding in a pine blanket box and have yourself a good game of cat and mouse with aerial projectiles.
The kitchen and bathrooms are still decorated with that 70’s flair, with carpets in the bathrooms to keep your toes warm and our famous yellow toilet seat. Future rejuvenation plans include a larger TV, more entertainment gadgets in the extra downstairs space (ideas welcomed), an edible garden and to bring the bathrooms into the modern age with character intact.
We love to create a space that is comfortable, practical and soothing to the soul. Welcome to Family and Friends Tasmanian Retreat!
