45 minutes from Cradle Mountain is Lakeview 1 - our beautifully appointed 2 bedroom apartment that overlooks the stunning lake in the centre of Waratah.
We also have Lakeview 2, another 2 bedroom apartment that is adjacent to Lakeview 1 so larger family groups can be accommodated together.
The picturesque lake is to home to some shy platypus that you can often see from your lounge & kitchen window in the summer months at sunrise sun and special to witness.
The lake is also home for a bunch of friendly ducks that just love to be fed their duck pellets, which you will find in a bucket by the front wander across the road to the lake with the fed and the ducks will happily come waddling over
Lakeview 1 has two 2 well-appointed bedrooms, each with a double bed, with all linen provided. The apartment is fully equipped for self-catering with a toasty warm heat pump for that cooler Tassie weather. The bathroom has a shower with lots of hot water and the laundry has a washing machine & dryer so you can catch up on the domestics whilst on holidays

Lakeview 1 is a wonderful place to base yourself for a few days if you are visiting Cradle Mountain and the Tarkine area as it is so centrally located. A quick drive out of town will take you to Philosopher Falls where you will discover this stunning short walk that provides a glimpse into the wild and mysterious Tarkine rainforest. Closer to home is the short walk from Lakeview 1 that will take you to the waterfall, with a walking track down to the base of the falls. The golf course is also close by and makes for an enjoyable round. A 2 minute walk away is the Bischoff Hotel, which is open nightly for dinner and the cosy Mushroom Cafe Wed-Sun. The Roadhouse is open 7 days a week for fuel and grocery items.
The Tarkine Interpretation Centre is open from Thursday-Sunday from October-April from 10am-2pm. Wander through this beautifully preserved heritage building and be welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. Here you can learn about the Tarkine forest, how to access walking trails and lookouts or simply browse the growing collection of historical photographs on display.
