Everything is just a hop and a skip away at Delamere Cottage, in the leafy residential neighbourhood of Trevallyn overlooking Launceston City.
With sweeping vistas over the Tamar River and the boutique city precincts to the mountains beyond, this beautifully renovated ‘home-away-from-home’ has everything you need to keep you in luxury and comfort in one of Launceston’s most tranquil and elegant suburbs.
Built in 1900, the two bedroom cottage has the charm of a bygone era with its long cool hallway, verandas and original features – and all the amenities of a beautifully appointed, modern and well equipped home, fully self-contained and furnished with tasteful, high quality furniture and fittings throughout.
The cottage is perfect for couples or families - one bedroom with queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom, the other with twin beds and separate bathroom. Sleep in luxury and comfort with top quality linen, until the morning sun greets you through the east facing windows.
A polished and contemporary kitchen offers everything you need with top-of-the-range fittings, crockery and cookware. Cook and dine in style - you’re spoilt for choice with indoor and outdoor dining areas. Whether you choose the breakfast nook, dining area or deck, all have magnificent views over the city and the beautiful Tasmanian city and landscapes you’ve come to explore.
Garden lovers will not be disappointed. Start or end your day with a meander around the stone pathed walkways, with cottage garden plants spilling over stone walls and plenty of shady nooks to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of premium Tasmanian wine, beer or cider.
Delamere Cottage is dog friendly accommodation, the garden is fully fenced and has a large, gated back yard, with a sheltered area for outdoor sleeping if required.
Just a short walk away are the local Trevallyn shops with independent supermarket - delicatessen, buzzy sidewalk café, hairdresser and newsagent /post office. Pop out for a morning coffee and the paper, and retreat to the tranquility of the cottage to enjoy them.
Natural and visitor attractions abound in northern Tasmania, and are within easy reach from Delamere Cottage.
A brief drive away, or a brisk walk for the enthusiast, is Launceston’s Cataract Gorge. This is the city’s flagship parkland space, with elegant open spaces hewn from a natural stone gorge. Complete with a selection of walking tracks, cafes, restaurant and chairlift, there’s enough here to occupy you for a day and bring you back for more. Enjoy a free swim in the open air pool in the summer, and watch in awe in winter as the gorge channels the rushing waters of the South Esk River from the Midlands down to the Tamar and the sea beyond.
Tasmania’s second largest city, Launceston is full of elegant walkways, historic facades, walking tours and eateries featuring the state’s outstanding produce. There is an abundance of outstanding restaurants to choose from, a thriving café culture, cinema and well attended theatre. On Saturday, visit the award winning Harvest Launceston farmers’ market. The city is home to Boag’s Brewery and many craft beer brewers, and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery is well worth a visit with regularly changing exhibitions and displays.
For wine and beverage enthusiasts, you’re ideally placed on the doorstep of the Tamar Valley and one of the world’s best cool climate wine routes, with vineyards combining personal cellar door experiences, platters of the highest calibre produce and award winning wines.
Venture further afield to find the heritage estates of early settlers south of Launceston, or the World Heritage majesty of Cradle Mountain.
The cottage is just an hour’s easy drive away from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry at Devonport, and less than half an hour from Launceston Airport.
