Located in the heart of the beautiful Tamar Valley in Tasmania Australia, the Blue House is a traditional fisherman's cottage just 60 metres from the river bank. The house was completely renovated in December 2013 to provide comfortable stylish accommodation with eco credentials.
The Blue House can accommodate up to 6 in 3 bedrooms comprising two with double beds and one with 2 single beds. The main loft bedroom is upstairs and has lovely river and parkland views. The toilet is separate from the bathroom which has a bath and shower.
The house is kept cosy in winter with a reverse cycle air conditioning unit heat pump in the lounge, supplemented with wall mounted electric panel heaters in the kitchen/dining area and loft bedroom. There are also electric blankets on all beds.
Just 30 minutes from Tasmania's second city of Launceston, Swan Point is located midway up the Tamar river estuary and is an ideal base for exploring the numerous boutique vineyards of the valley including Janz & Ninth Island. Farm gate fruit and berries are also available in season.
There are beautiful riverside walks along the river bank to the remains of a historic water mill. Wildlife and birds abound. Watch the Sea Eagles soar and greet the wallabies on your morning walk. The popular sandy shore of Paper Beach provides a safe swimming for children and opportunity to wet a line is at your doorstep.
Local artisans provide opportunity to acquire high quality Tassie products. Iconic attractions such as Cradle Mountain, Coles Bay, Bay of Fires and Hobart are all within 3 hours drive.
Your hosts Steve and Amanda live close by and are delighted to share their Tassie secrets with you to ensure your stay is a delight.
