Description

This luxury B&B accommodation offers a newly renovated 1890's cottage on the waterfront in historic Battery Point. It is only 5 minutes walk to the heart of Battery Point and 10 minutes to Salamanca Place. The property occupies an internal block accessed by foot via a 40m sandstone pathway or by car down a driveway to a carport only 1m from the downstairs bedroom. The cottage garden and dry-stone wall is a feature at the front entrance.

The cottage has just undergone a total renovation with 5 star appliances and finishes. The re-build was featured recently on an episode of Grand Designs Australia and can be viewed on their web page as the 'Battery Point Glass House'.

The compact kitchen and associated living/dining area has every appliance one would expect – induction cooktop, oven, fridge, toaster, kettle, gas fireplace, a flat screen tv with dvd.

The continental breakfast will include muesli, a selection of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, specialty bread and jams, plunger coffee and a choice of teas. Tasmanian wine is provided at an additional cost of $20 per bottle and Tasmanian boutique brewery beer at $5 per bottle.

The two en-suite bedrooms have queen size beds, generous built in wardrobes, hydronic wall heaters, hair dryer, iron and heated towel rail. All tiles, hand basins, and bathroom accessories are 5-star European designed. Additionally, the downstairs bedroom has its own bar fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee plunger. This bedroom features a wonderful sandstone wall and heated polished concrete floor to enhance the ambience and a modern Tasmania Oak table/desk is complemented with two Hans Wegner designed wishbone chairs. The en-suite bathroom also has a washing machine/dryer

Fresh flowers add to the general ambience to compliment the tasteful décor, furniture and art throughout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Stay The cottage was gorgeous and so much more than we imagined. We had a brilliant stay with generous breakfast supplies, lovely views, modern amenities, good quality appliances and plenty of room for two couples. We had friends visit one night and they were very jealous of our accommodation! Greg and Trish were friendly and helpful hosts who gave great advice on restaurants and sights (the dinner we had on Greg's recommendation was superb). The location is absolutely perfect and within easy walking distance of Sandy Bay, Battery Point restaurants and the Salamanca market. We would absolutely return here and highly recommend Weene Cottage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great experience Weene Cottage is a gorgeous little cottage, beautifully appointed and just enough space for two (we only rented the top floor). Quality gourmet breakfast provisions were provided (cereal/muesli, artisan bread, fresh eggs and milk, tea/coffee, greek yoghurt & a good, quality selection of fresh fruit). We enjoyed the quality high-end appliances, linens, furnishings and homewares and staying in a super stylish place. The kitchen and bathroom are on the small side but everything you need is there. The weather in Hobart was quite mild but we still enjoyed the gas fireplace at night and the timed hydronic heating was welcome in the morning. Access to the property is down a longish driveway, with a couple of turns to get into the carport - nothing too bad although it might be a little squeezy in a big car or SUV. It's only a few mins (uphill) walk to Battery Point's food places such as Jackman & McRoss and Three Japanese. Location is very quiet. View of the water from the lounge window is lovely. Arranging the booking was easy. Greg made contact a few days prior to confirm everything and made the effort to introduce himself one morning, without being intruding. Highly recommended. Would love to stay there again. The only suggestion I could make is an electric blanket would be welcome on Hobart's chilly nights.
