The spacious 2 bedroom holiday house is situated in Lunawanna, Bruny Island. It is a short drive to Cloudy Bay, The Lighthouse and Bruny Island Winery. Other attractions include the Bruny Island Cheese Co, The Smokehouse, The Chocolate Factory, Berry Farm, Oyster Farm, and Adventure Bay Tours. The Allonah Cafe is a great general store that's close by and we are also close to the only pub on the island
It is situated on the quiet part of the island with a beautiful beach within walking distance from the shack. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Hartz Mountains and the D'entrecasteau channel every morning sitting out on the front deck.
The shack has two large, newly decorated bedrooms and a room off the second bedroom which has a bunk bed for extra guests/children. All linen is provided and tastfully decorated with Laura Ashley and Linen House bed covers. Although we have redecorated to include homely comforts and a rustic design, ''Alkira'' still maintains that shack look and feel which is why my family love coming over to Bruny to unwind and relax.
The bright and sunny kitchen is also fully equipped with also a coffee machine byo pods and there are even some cook books for inspiration. We have a woodheater in the living room which heats the whole house on those rare chilly nights. Outside there are BBQ facilities and an outdoor entertaining area which you can enjoy. Whether you want to stay a few days or a couple of weeks you can be assured that the shack has everything you need away from home.
Even though I live in Hobart, guests are welcome to contact me anytime and there is also a book of brochures about Bruny Island for you look through. Please contact me if you would like any more information.
''Alkira'' means ''bright and sunny'' in aboriginal which we think is the perfect description for our warm and inviting Bruny Shack :

''This was my first booking, and I can't believe places like this really do exist. I travelled with my partner and mother-in-law, and the place was large enough to provide individual space, but to also allow us to be together in the same space if we wished. As we needed at least two bedrooms, I was really pleased to find queen beds in each room, plus a pair of bunks. Next time I visit, I'll bring friends to fill all the beds
Access to the house was super easy, and because Courtney was so quick to respond to emails, I felt in safe hands. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and wood heater and chopped wood with great views across the water.
Would I recommend this to my family and friends? I certainly would - but only if they take me with them.''

"My partner and I had the most divine stay at "Alkira". If it is peace and quiet you are after then this is the place. Stunning wilderness. Delicious local produce available for the eating and drinking. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. Courtney was a perfect hostess, very quick to respond to any query or request. Best Christmas break ever''

''This place is fantastic We woke up to beautiful views of the water without even getting out of bed, enjoyed breakfast in the spacious living area, then explored all Bruny Island had to offer. Great location for walks on the beach, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling and hanging out with friends. Fire keeps the whole house warm at night and the kitchen is big enough for a group to cook. Booking was easy and Courtney was very helpful. Highly recommend a stay''
