Situated on the quieter more intimate end of Bruny this charming, rustic beach house was built with an artists eye, using many recycled materials .
It is a relaxed, romantic, light filled home with open plan living space and exquisite all round views of the sea and sky. A three minute walk through a bush garden and cross the road onto a lovely swimming beach.
This lovely home offers a private, peaceful retreat where you can immerse yourself in the rhythm of island life.
This is a great l place to retreat from the world, seek inspiration and comfort. It is a very relaxed home put together with a mix of new and recycled materials, vintage pieces and artworks. It has a few quirks and plenty of character but most of all it has a lovely feeling. The large open plan living space has a wood fire heater, a charming old chandelier that twinkles above the dining table, a rustic home made but well equip kitchen, old french doors leading into a separate bedroom, a spacious bathroom and separate laundry. There are two decks. The large north facing deck has comfy reading chairs, BBQ and dining table with views across the water. The smaller west facing deck is a great place to sit and catch the late afternoon sun, have a drink and enjoy the spectacular sunsets across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.
There is a double bed and a single bed ,both with good supportive mattresses The sheets may not necessarily match,in fact very little matches in this house, but all fresh linens are supplied and we have some nice feather pillows. There is an electric stove, microwave, blender, sandwich press, a good sized fridge for all your supplies and champagne glasses - the essentials in life We also have a washing machine, mosquito net above the bed and wire screens on windows.
There is Free to air T.V. and DVD player.Sorry no WiFi but we get excellent mobile reception- we are not in one of the island's black spots.
The house is extremely ergonomic and solar passive. Its orientation makes it a very comfortable space to be in . Winter sun fills the main living area for most of the day but less so in summer because of the overhanging eaves. In the summer months there is a shade blind for the deck , a large ceiling fan in the central living space and most often a sea breeze will flow through the house.
Its elevated position ensures wonderful views all round. The sandy path through the bush garden is on a bit of an incline when walking back up from the beach. There are five steps on each deck leading into the house , however the living space is all on one level with polished wood floors throughout.
Please note we have wooden Venetian blinds on floor length windows and the cords are considered a risk to small children.
Good reception with Telstra and Optus networks. It may have improved but when a friend visited a couple of years ago she got no reception at all, on any part of Bruny with Vodaphone network.
A private studio / bedroom and a handful of cupboards will remain locked during your stay, but apart from this the house is yours.
Come well stocked with food & beverages to self cater as the main supply shop on Bruny at Adventure Bay is a considerable drive and it is advisable to top up with petrol before you come to Bruny Island.
Cloud garden relies solely on rainwater for its water supply. It is pure, clean and excellent for drinking but also finite, so respectfully ask that you are water wise. There are some common sense house guidelines for this country beach house that you can access these prior to arrival so you have a heads up on how everything works.
Cloud garden is great getaway for a couple or perfect for single guests and the house is well secured. A small fee will be charged to help cover the additional laundry services and water supply.

Interaction with guests
We understand that people often come to Bruny to get away from it all and we respect your privacy. Contact only if required. There is a House Guidelines with information regarding the local area situated inside the front door which outlines how everything works . Hopefully this will address any questions you may have.
Other things to note:
No smoking , parties or events. Please follow all House Rules to ensure a safe and happy stay.
Bruny is teaming with wildlife. A sea eagle flies by Cloud garden most days and there is a local mob of black cockatoos usually in the vicinity. Wallaby's, echidna, quoll and possums pass through our garden regularly as well as an array of birds.
If you feel like topping up the bird baths down in the garden in front of the deck you will likely see many species of birds and if your lucky, the endangered Forty Spotted Pardalottes that live around Dennes Point.
Unfortunately, there are also lots of ants on the island they love sandy soils and they sometimes make their way into this country beach house. We do our best to keep bugs at bay and clean thoroughly, however it’s impossible to eradicate them completely. We apologize if any of these little critters appear during your stay, but it is part of life on the island. We do have mosquito nets above the beds and wire screens on windows that are very effective in the height of summer to ensure you always get a peaceful night’s sleep.
Note: It is rare to see a snake but they do live on Bruny Island so be mindful when walking through the bush or garden on a warm day or evening.
