The historic village of Franklin, once a bustling shipping port, nestles in Tasmania’s orchard and southern wineries region. Along with hillsides of apples and cherries, and the majestic Art Deco Palais Theatre, it is home of the Wooden Boat Centre, preserving the skills of traditional wooden boatbuilding. Explore the Huon River under sail or on a 1917 ferry.
Once part of the heart of the community, the 1860 Methodist church overlooks the river and its black swans. Now the home of Riverflow Yoga and Accommodation, this Heritage listed stone church is enjoyed by visitors and locals, for bed & breakfast, shared wellness, or individual retreat.
Experience the historic character in the 2-storey apartment, and if you wish, join the small yoga classes by the fireplace in winter or have private sessions tailored to your needs. Massages are available. Restore and reconnect with yourself while you explore this beautiful valley. Stroll the riverbank, peaceful as you head south, or active around the small marina as you head north, as you decide which cafe to visit.
The apartment is a contemporary architect-designed structure contained within the church itself. The kitchen, spacious bathroom, and living/dining area are downstairs, with the bedroom on a mezzanine looking up at the vaulted church ceiling above. Although there is no stove, the microwave, electric frypan, toaster and well-stocked china cupboard allow self-catering. Firewood is provided.
The remainder of the open space holds a daily yoga class Monday and Thursday except in January, which guests are invited to join without any charge. Otherwise guests have the entire church to themselves Wednesday to Sunday, and are welcome to use the yoga mats and props for their own practice. With the morning sun streaming through tall windows, it is a beautiful way to start the day
