My 1910 Federation cottage has a special feel to it which many comment on. It has been decorated with a mix of local art and salvage or retro furniture is light with views of the mountain from bedroom and deck. It is also situated in a great location.
Come and enjoy the cottage's quiet but central location and its views of the mountain. The main bedroom is very large and sunny with a comfortable queen size bed with electric blanket and a view of Mt Wellington from the bed and deck. The second bedroom is a good size. A spare mattress may be arranged if needed.
Two electric heaters are provided and a very effective wood heater and fire wood for chilly days.
Breakfast muesli, tea and coffee and some cooking basics are provided for your stay.
If you are after a palatial, or luxury mod-con experience, my modest cottage is probably not for you. Rather it is homey, comfortable and a little quirky with its own cheerful style. Typical of lean-to additions to heritage homes, the bathroom, is basic and compact but clean and adequate. The loo, once an outdoor toilet, is now enclosed and connected to the house. There isn't a washing machine in the house but I use a very clean, well-run laundromat one small block from the cottage; detergent and bucket are available at the house for handwashing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I look forward to welcoming you to my Hobart cottage in the near future
The cottage is located on the edge of the CBD, close to shops a short walk or bus ride to the centre of the city, Salamanca and the waterfront/MONA ferry or a short drive to the top of the mountain which will offer stunning views. In the vicinity of the house there are many parks to explore including the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens. Please be aware that MONA is CLOSED ON TUESDAYS.
You can walk to TMAG and Salamanca in approximately 25 minutes. Or there is a bus two blocks away in Macquarie St that will take you into town in a few minutes. A taxi would take around 5 mins.
