With so many holiday properties to choose from in Hobart, making a choice can be very difficult. The moment you see Omaroo House, an1850’s renovated cottage surrounded by flourishing roses it draws you in for a stay of comfort and convenience and you know you have made the right choice. It has a great location on the edge of the CBD within the Heritage Precinct of Hobart’s top rated suburb West Hobart so a car is not critical. It is a 5 minute walk to the city, 10 minute walk to Salamanca and Constitution Dock where the Sydney to Hobart yachts come in at the end of the race, so there are many excellent cafes, restaurants and bars. It is a 15 minute walk to vibrant North Hobart where there are more excellent cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs and of course shops. If you have a car all these places are only a couple minutes away and there is undercover parking for 2 cars at the rear of the property plus ample parking on the street. So it is suitable for all kinds of guests, from couples to friends sharing, business professionals and especially welcoming for families.
Entry to the cottage is via the original sitting/lounge room with a classic leather lounge with a gas heater to keep you cosy in winter. To add to your enjoyment there are many books on the bookshelf and a variety of board games in the chest. Next to this room is the original bedroom still retaining the original 1850's timber ceiling and a bed warmer from that period as a decoration on the wall.
From the sitting/lounge room via the original 1850's back door you go from old to new, which has just been renovated and extended. Your eyes will be immediately taken to the lovely open lounge, dining and kitchen area with stunning panoramic views of the River Derwent and surrounding hills. You will see yachts racing a couple of days of the week and cruise ships regularly in the warmer months. Both the dining and lounge areas have these magnificent views set off by a beautiful timber ceiling.
The new kitchen is fully equipped and spacious and caters to all your needs.
From the lounge/dining area you walk onto the deck where you can just unwind, read a book or have a drink or two whilst enjoying the everchanging vista. There is a BBQ and as the deck is covered it can be used all year round.
Two bedrooms have queen sized beds and the third bedroom has a single bed and a rollout trundle stored underneath that can extend to the same height as the single bed, so it can be two single beds or pushed together - combined it is another queen sized bed.
Omaroo House is child friendly having a portacot, high chair and a separate bath.
The lovely timber side door takes you out to a lovely large garden, again with panoramic views of the Derwent River and plenty of space for kids or adults to play. The outdoor table and chairs are another option for dining or to just to relax, read a book and have a wine.
