The main part of the building burnt down and was rebuilt as it is now is around 1850. The building which houses the renowned "Etties" dining establishment is the original stables and sister accommodation The Hayloft. 100 Elizabeth also boasts what is believed to be the oldest remaining flushing toilet in the country It is now a feature of Etties restaurant.
Now meticulously restored, Westside Apartment itself also has an interesting history. It has recently been a residence for a long period and before that a piano studio. It must have been a real challenge to get the piano up the beautiful entry stairs It also seems to have a history as the residence for the old style dentist as teeth were found on site Recently during renovation works some wonderful very old artefacts were found of one of the residents. For example under the floor boards school exercise books, books and various emblems were found from 1853. The text books belonged to 10 year old John Rout.
