A converted hall on a historic property - one of Hobart's first - with a walled garden courtyard and views of Mt Wellington

'The Hall' is a unique property in a residential suburb that is only a 10-minute drive from both Hobart CBD and MONA. It's a one-bedroom spacious cottage, which has been completely refurbished and beautifully but simply furnished. Additional beds can be set up on request.

The cottage is part of a historical property that was originally built in 1820 -- one of the first built in the New Town/Moonah area. It has a convict-brick walled garden on one side and a covered area on the other side, complete with a barbecue and an outside dining /sitting area looking on to green lawns and fruit trees -- the perfect place for relaxing and soaking up the sun. There is also a small vegetable and herb garden for our guest enjoyment.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with beautiful Huon pine features. The sitting and dining area overlook the walled garden and are bright, sunny and very spacious. There is a wood burning fire with plenty of wood available to make it all the more cosy in the winter months. The bathroom has been recently remodelled and provides all essential items, including a hair dryer. There is also a washing machine. Wifi is also available, for free.

For the more energetic guests, we have bikes available on request -- the city is a mere 20 minutes ride away along the bike track, which runs within a stone's throw of The Hall's location. The bike track runs all the way to MONA, which is also a 20-minute ride by bike. Both rides are easy, scenic and enjoyable.

The Hall is equipped with a television, DVD player and a DVD library. There are also some interesting books on the bookshelf .

A selection of breakfast can be provided at a small cost , which might consist of artisan breads from local bakeries Pigeon Hole, Jackman and Mccross, Zum or Daci and Daci, jams, muesli, freshly stewed fruits and yoghurt, free-range eggs, and tea and plunger coffee.

Beautiful medal-winning Tasmanian pinot noir from a small boutique winery are available to taste and purchase.

Moonah is located on the northern side of the city and is easily accessible to all attractions. There are good coffee shops and bakeries within a 2-kilometre radius and some good cheap eats are close by. Supermarkets are very handy walking distance and a 2-minute drive, as are some specialty shops.

The Hall is also close to the eating strip of North Hobart and the wonderful iconic State Cinema and art galleries and many sporting venues including State Hockey centre, netball centre, basketball centre, Aquatic centre and Domain tennis centre and the Blundstone arena is a short drive...

Parking is available off road at The Hall on request.

Public transport is easily accessed and the approximate taxi fare to Moonah from the CBD is about $20.00.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Stay I was down in Moonah to see family, friends and just enjoy a nice holiday. This place did not dissapoint. It was clean, welcoming and very accurate to the description. The welcoming basket was a nice touch. I stayed with my girlfriend for 7 days. If you have car you can park it safely on premise but if you don't it's a short walk to the main road to get a bus or use the bikes that are on hand which is very convenient. Overall I throughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! Absolutely not a single bad thing about this place! The moment we arrived, it felt like we were staying with family. Crisp, immaculate, hotel quality linen. Comfy beds. Everything was so lovely & clean. Fluffy white towels. Thoughtful attention to detail- fridge on, little basket with home made jams, fruit from garden and bread for morning toast. Coffee machine with pods was a lovely breaky surprise too. Kitchen stocked with every type of pot, pan or utensil you could need. Location was second to none- if you want to be close to Hobart tourist spots without being stuck in a noisy, characterless apartment. This garden oasis was the perfect base to retire to on late afternoons, after a busy day getting around Hobart or checking out MONA (approx 20 minute drive away). Secure gated entrance, like a hidden gem. Supermarket a few minutes drive, to stock up where needed. HUGE compiled folder of local recommendations for food/activities etc. Loved the veggie garden, divine lawns & historic property. Home away from home. The day we arrived at our next booked accomm in Tassie, our 2yo sat down and cried, saying she wanted to "go to our other holiday house". We wanted to move in! Hosts Ange & Clive are the best you could hope for, we were absolutely thrilled we were lucky enough to find this place. Would highly recommend & definitely stay again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful, quiet property, just like home Really liked the old building, the wood fire, heat pump and electric heaters to choose from made it very cosy. The full kitchen and even slow cooker was great. lovely relaxing placeto stay and the locked gates are great piece of mind. We enjoyed the location as it was close to everything and easy to get onto the highway. Rate it 10 out of 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A property to die for! This property is amazing. It's feels very much like a home away from home, with everything you need. The property owners are so friendly and as an added bonus you have a huge fruit and veggie garden on your door step as well as fresh eggs from the chickens. The property is also only a 10 - 15 minute drive from the city, so easy to find. The Best accommodation I have stayed in thus yet!
