Winner of 'Best Views' in Qantas Travel Insider's "7 Best Airbnb's in Hobart".
Up the hill from the North Hobart restaurant strip and minutes from Salamanca and MONA, you'll love returning to HillHaus for stunning views across Hobart and the River Derwent.
This three bedroom, 'upside-down' home was designed in the 1960's with a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright and has since been tastefully renovated to include ducted heating, polished concrete floors, gourmet kitchen and electric blinds.
The ground floor features three bedrooms, all with queen-sized beds and electric blankets for extra warmth in the colder months. There is also a trundle bed that can be requested to accommodate a 7th guest and is best set up in the Grey Room. Two rooms include built-in robes whilst the third - more spacious as a result - has a small sitting area. All rooms have spectacular views over Hobart. Finishing out the ground floor is a full-sized bathroom that includes a shower-in-bath and a separate toilet.
Open plan living and dining for six takes advantage of the 180 degree views of the city. The gourmet kitchen includes an induction cooktop with separate gas hub, integrated Liebherr double door fridge/freezer and Miele dishwasher as well as all the cooking utensils you'll need for a lovely dinner. Chill out in the lounge with seating for 7 and Smart TV with free access to Netflix and more.
The house sits on an elevated block, with landscaped native gardens with sandstone features, established plants and trees and several relaxing sitting spaces. Look out for the local wallabies, if they're not foraging on the property you'll see them down the road. The secure backyard also offers the bonus of a gate providing direct access to the walking and cycling tracks of the Knocklofty Reserve, perfect for those who like to get outdoors.
The house is exclusively yours during your stay. Access is via touchpad which means arrival at any time after check-in is acceptable.
A further note on access. As its name suggests, the HillHaus sits atop a quite hefty hill. This means two things:
1. A car to get around is preferable - it'll help you come and go and and down the hills whenever you please. That said - there's a bus stop a few minutes away.
2. There is a small flight of around 15 stairs to access the property. Whilst there is a driveway, it is steep and difficult to navigate. For the safety of all guests it is advised not to use the driveway and instead park in the all day spots directly in front.
